Going to do a auto-sog. First time with sog. Any tips?

So like the title says I'm going to do a auto sog. I have a 3X3X5 tent with 400watt MH/HPS. I was thinking about using grow bags so I can get them in there nice and snug. I will be running Sour Hound from Mephisto and some free AlienXTriangle auto from The Vault. Any suggestions about how I should set this up? I'm new to sog. I usually run a scrog with 40-45 days of veg time. I'm unsure of what bag size I should use and if I should go with MH until they start to flower or just go with HPS the entire grow. Please Help. thanks

My next is gonna be 5 autos. 3x3x8 tent. Gonna go back from led to HPS. Ive got 2 adjustable ballast . One is 200 400 or 600. The other is 6 8 and 1K. Think Ill run the 600 turned down to 4. Check ventilation as I cant run this in summer heat. Its cooling outside so I believe it can run 600 without overheating. After a little hopeful stretch I'll be back to the led....

My 5 in a 4x4x7 tent love the heat! If im at work for 7-9 hours thru the day, sometimes i dont run my aircon and the tent temp hits 35 celsius and doesnt affect my ladies at all. And that temp is measured at soil level. So i can only imagine at canopy height is a couple degree higher, while light is 2.75 ft above plants.
I believe ppl treat autos too much like newborns... not too much nutes, watch your temps, dont ever transplant, yata yata yata.
They are like any other plant, and if you treat them with respect and care, you cant fuck em up. Like ever....

Im curious, would'nt you want an auto to stretch. They are short by nature...?
I second this. I am growing 5 at the moment sog style in a 4x4 tent. Wouldnt hps be much better for the structuring of an auto???
Stretching isn't just growing taller. It's growing taller due to having more spacing between nodes, and usually results in thinner/weaker branches, and a much less dense structure overall. It's not really beneficial for anything other than taking up more space. If anything, it might make it harder to get proper lighting levels on the lower buds, since they will be farther from the tops.

As per any photo period plant. No different. Just watch the plant and change up feed schedule as per desired size/structure. Simple growing method

Ive used mh for the "veg" stage of autos and to be honest, i dont really see any difference apart from my lazy arse having to change a bulb. Fuck that... just chuck the hps in and its less to do...

Even then, there was no hps until late eighties, and the hydro from mh back in the day was wicked choofa!

How are you going to run a SOG with Auto's? Auto SOG is an oxymoron, since the basis of SOG is forcing clones to bud at a very small size. Since this can only be done correctly with cloned plants that have a known budding cycle time, i don't see how it can be done with auto's. Maybe you have your acronyms mixed up?

No mate, let me teach ya... its pretty simple!!!
Just like a photo from seed, or a clone/cutting from a known photo, it has to grow. Now in this growing time all that a sea of green is/does, is provide training where you want the top of the plant to be via weaving back under a screen horizontally to the grow medium.
It doesnt matter what your growing, weed, roses, shit look at a tomato trellis or a japanese bonzai plant! Effectively the same thing. Taking something that grows vertical in a small space and growing it horizontally to increase mass and space taken aint nothing new, nor just for photos or cuttings...
Think before speaky, especially if not experienced in the spoken field.....

Well then, here is what you need to do. Read what you wrote above. Google the definition of Sea of Green, look at the pictures if it helps. Re-read what you wrote. Now back to the definition of Sea of Green. Now back to what you wrote. Now google the definition of SCREEN of Green. Now back to what you wrote. Now you might want to take your own advice, and edit your last post before someone as cocky as you decides to rip you apart for it.

Ive read the definitions buddy, google other forums and wiki! Maybe your interpretation is different?
Anything can be grown in a scrog..

I have to try this....it sounds like it is tailor made for what I can do with my setup.

I hope you guys keep this topic alive...I have some time to wait, and if I keep reading, I might pick up some valuable intel. Sounds like you have both used this method. :weed:

So this sounds way different from that screen/stress training....all a matter of fooling with the light schedule and low pruning, right?

So what sized pots should be used if you are growing in a 2x4x7H tent? Seems like 5 gal pots would be too big, and the plants shouuld be much smaller.

Good post, I am getting ready for my first attempt with autos, and this probably wouldn't work well there, better to go back to fem seeds. I dunno...thoughts?
