Going to Amsterdam in Feb!

Hello fellow stoners!

Me and my friend booked our flights and hotel in Amsterdam for 1-4 February but yesterday, we were really stoned and read on a couple newspapers that they're gonna be closing the coffeeshops to tourists by making them private clubs!
From the news and the info I found on the Internet they're going to start imposing that starting with the south of the country.... So Amsterdam will not be effected by these regulations at least in the next few months.
I'm not sure if this is true though, can anyone shed some light on this please?

Anyway, regarding the trip itself I'm going with a single friend and we're gonna stay at a hotel in the Museum Quarter area. It will be our first time in Amsterdam and we managed to find a pretty good deal for the trip, 255€ each!
I called the hotel and we were told that the rooms are absolutely no-smoking but that we can smoke in the garden. Do you guys think it's acceptable to smoke weed in the garden? I'm pretty sure we'll try anyway

Any recomendations for coffeeshops in/close to the Museum Quarter? My Friend's birthday is on February 2nd and our flight arrives in Amsterdam on the 1st at 11pm!

not sure where the museum qtr is but i went last feb and stayed near dam square. Its an amazing city which definitly has to be seen to be appreciated. I think they're making it so that you have to be a member of the coffeeshop to enter and to be a member you have to be a resident, im sure there are ways around this like putting the address as the hotel or as the coffeeshop itself but i suppose you will just have to ask someone in a coffeeshop when you get there! If you are an indica fan, go check out Green Place. Coffeeshop Amnesia is also worth checking out...they always have top notch buds and they also serve really tasty food! Amsterdam is a nice city to visit, but I wouldnt want to live there...too much noise, cars, people and crime...be careful to not get hit by a car...the sidewalks are really narrow...and don't get robbed...

oh, and about the ban, thats not taking effect in amsterdam yet (or ever) as the mayor publicly stated that even if the ban goes through, he will not enforce it. Amsterdam depends on the cannabis industry to attract tourists...if the coffeeshops are closed, the tourism industry will take a big blow, as well as the horeca...lots of money lost...

Danny Danko, High Times cultivation editor has a show on norml radio called "Free Weed". He talked about that 'citizen's only' law recently. He said it will likely never effect the inner Amsterdam coffee shops. A lot of the outlying areas have already begun though. I think he probbly knows what he is talking about, he has been there more than 2 dozen times. So just stay in the 'Dam and enjoy the couch lock. A trip to Amsterdam is at the very top of my 'bucket list'. I am so green with envy!...

The Museum Quarter is about 3km from the Dam Square, it's close to the Van Gogh museum and Vondelpark. If anyone knows good coffeeshops in that area please let me know

ddimebag: you mentioned crime as in street robberies and such, or more along the lines of pickpockets? Any special care I should have?

Crime is there but just keep to urself and everything should be ok. I've been 3 times and never had any problems but that's not to say i'm invicible, lolz.

That news about the coffee shop closing to foreigners isnt true, believe me I know for sure! its just bullshit to increase tourism before then end of the year

You will end up visiting them all almost also because every coffee shop has about just 5 or 6 different strains of weed and some of hash usually, so if you wanna try a lot of strains you have to go in various coffee
If you want an hint tho do like I always do, just ask to the guy at the coffee the best weed he got without even reading the list and get the top from each coffe

yeah man you should be able to smoke i went when i was 16 and got some bud and smoked out walking on the street even tho it is not legal to do so no one stopped me. if you get in to a coffee shop just sit down outside of it some have tables and chairs outside or inside and just toke down

I got stopped by some cops in the RLD for smoking a bowl. They thought I was smoking crack cause everyone rolls joints over there. They let me go. Also while you are there if you're feeling froggy - two chicks at the same time - good stuff.

Haha that's fucked. I had a similar situation happen a while ago, we were in our car smoking, the cops knock on the window and ask us what we we're doing. Since they clearly saw the joint we told them we were just smoking a couple Js. They told us that many people used to park in that spot doing crack or heroin... They didn't even search us or take our stash lol.

the best coffee shop in amsterdam imho is 'rasta baby', the first you will find walking from the train station.. as the name implies it is very rasta, very reggae.

Me and my friend are thinking about writing down all the strains we smoke during our stay in Amsterdam
