Going on week 8 of flower, when to chop.

I was thinking my obviously indica dominant plant would be ready to harvest at week 8 of flower (on 2/12/2013) which is in 3 days. I have heard to wait for the pistils to start turning amber but all of mine are a cream/yellowish color but my buds look about ready to harvest. Should I wait the extra week to make it a full 9 weeks of flower or is this jus a superficial factor?

Look at the trichs not the pistils..Are the buds plump and hard?

Don't use the projected calendar date as gospel, and sometimes your hairs won't all turn color, or not as much as other strains.
Use a combination of hairs and trichs to judge, but you'll get a feel for it.
Some guys have been doing it so long they can tell pretty close just by the 'look' of the bud if it's ready.

You want to chop when You feel they are ready and when ther are good for YOU..

Most wait till the pistils have receeded , some wait till its mostly cloudy with a lil amber.

Its all up to You , and dont listen to what the seed company time frame as thats part of there marketing scheme..

I recently bought a 60x-100x microscope for 10 bucks at radio shack (the thing kicks ass by the way) so I've been keeping tabs on the trichomes. I know when to harvest as far as trichomes go, but I thought the hairs needed to be a certain color for best taste/smell/density or some shit like that.

It was a lucky bagseed I found in some really good bud so I had no idea what I was going to end up with but it turned out to be very indica.

Alright, I think I'm just going to find a happy medium between the looks and trichomes. I'm definitely going to put more effort into making sure the trichomes are right though.

Check out the magnify android app in you have one..good pics and free. easy to view.

the plant will ripen you will be able to tell..look for frosty white trichs and look for an increased number of capitate stalked trichs...long ones..

Continue to let it go wait for those pistols to change color otherwise you will ruin your entire crop
A buddy of mine suffered a total loss of Durban due to premature harvest....

Also the trichs should be fully erect with perfect little balls on top...depending on YOUR preference ..go for a slightly creamy ball...
Look for a combo of both trichs and pistols....50% amber hairs..n a lil cream..

Week 8, minus 1 week for your transition to flower. Puts you at 7 weeks. I agree with the others. Look at several flower cluster from top to bottom with your pocket microscope, see what the trichromes are doing. Once you chop it down, the games over. 2 more weeks bro.
