Going in for eye surgery

Hey guys, wasn't sure where to put this. Someone move if theres somewhere else it would be appropriate.

Im going in for eye surgery, specifically a Collagen Crosslinking, which involves just removing the surface skin of the cornea, putting in riboflavin eye drops and a uv light exposed directly for 30 min. Then a contact lens is put in place on the eye to promote healing and prevent infection.

The pamphlet says nothing about weed :( LOL, or partying or anything. But it says it will take a week for the corneal skin to heal over again.

I plan on asking the doctor but anyone have anything I can say besides asking, how soon can I smoke weed. Like is there anything else that causes vasodilation.

Any advice? Or has anyone had one of these?

smoking will cause your blood vessels to relax is what im getting from all this. wait of week or 2 most stitches take 2 weeks to heal so its the same process of the eyes but im thinking alittle longer due to the fact the eye is moist all the time. i just say dont smoke. call a friend and have him give you candy instead if he does it right you will be stoned... wait if thats the same fuck it im lost. dont smoke, take the pain killers they give you.

No but I've done quite a few corneal transplants and this is an option to try prior to a transplant. There wasn't really anything else to do prior to this. Is your diagnosis keratoconus or corneal ectasia if so did you have Lasik?

its keratoconus, no i did not have lasik, its still in its early stages and I want to keep it that way it is instead of going for a transplant. I asked my optometrist about lasik before, but he said he'd recommened the crosslinking as it has had a 100% effectiveness rate (those are the results in Australia so far anyway, I know some countries, India, USA have like 90%+ success rates. But we all know aussie healthcare is just leagues ahead of anyone else somehow.. :D).

I have Karatoconus too. I need a cornea transplant, but have not been ready to get it done. Shit is scary as hell, someone cutting on your eyeball. Gonna see Dr. tomorrow, probably have the transplant soon.

Jdillinger, I just had corneal cross linking done a few days ago and was wondering what your doctor said about smoking after the procedure. What did you end up doing?
