Hey everyone, took quite a long break since I last had some plants, let alone a place to do it. Relocated to Ohio from Florida a few months back and 1mo after I get here ohio goes recreational and allows cultivation... dream come true .. coming from super strict Florida this is amazing.
Reached out to a few growmies from old forum I was member of and they hooked me up as I didn't have much extra cash got a bunch of genetics from a good friend . Some LIT, Terp Fi3nd, ilgm, nerdz genetics, mostly terp fiend which I've heard good reviews about his stank. I'm looking for super aromatic flavorful goodness.. I know anything I grow is gonna be potent but smelly and tasty is where the gold is.

FOR THIS GROW
Strain: purple megalon (terp fi3nd genetics)20240305_112904.jpg

Going to keep this simple . I feel I was way over complicating things before. Full emerald harvest 8 bottle system and people are getting great results with Jack's or grow dots and it's just to expensive other ways.

Starting in solo cups in Happy Frog and some home made fert organic boil of coffee grounds egg shells cinnamon Banana peel Epsom salt .

Seeds went from napkins to soli cups on 3/12

We're standing up most helmets off
3/13 is my start date.

Loving my little CFL squiggly ufo I use for seeds and clones . Consisting of 6 23 watt CFL 5000k
Got them to about 6 inches and lush before going out side and getting into the sun

I was experimenting just dirt and I got about 3 weeks before showing some calcium Def. Which I expected. 4 of the healthiest went into large vessels of different sizes and soil mixes mostly happy Frog and some clay rich nice dirt out back .
I was a little weary of the dirt so I did one 100 happy Frog
1 50 50 back yard dirt and happy Frog
And a few little variations on 4 total and 5 went into the ground that I pulled 2 big tree stumps out of the ground and filled it with some time release calcium fortified fert added some wood ash and happy Frog.
I have had bad bug problems in south florida so I'm being hypervigelint this time around. I love this product by Sierra

I did several soil drenches and have a spray bottle locked and loaded. Good stuff.

Because realistically I can't afford to buy liquid ferts for 9 big outdoor plants right now.. maybe in the near future but now I know the most efficient way was get them into the ground which I have confidence it's nutrient rich. Lots of life all around.
Also for back up organic fert I made a compost bin. I think it's a 30 gallon drum which I got the kids loving to fill. ..check it our

I started it off with bio char wood ash a gallon of happy Frog which has lots of microbes and a few shovels of clay dirt in back yard. Banas lentils eggs coffe.. gonna be some good issh

Back to the plants

2 are topped so far and the 5 in the ground went in the ground 7 days after the other 4 in vessels.
And today April 16 this is where we are at17133109307766238111847980887704.jpg17133109930625103138024423238601.jpg17133110751514668575561189859253.jpg

Go for it man…..I love to see an ambitious outdoor grow. It brings back memories of when my buddy and I grew in college. That was 1989 and overall we got a helluva lot luckier than we could have ever hoped for.
We grew for 9 or 10 yrs before going on a long hiatus. Lots of variables outside but you can really grow some serious trees.
Treat those girls well and they’ll reward you in the end. Good luck and I’ll follow along on the edge of my seat.

Thanks guys .. I was thinking I'm past the novelty grow hoping to drop that golden bean and get the goose. I think I'm gonna drop the rest of my packs when I complete this job and I can aquire some more dirt and a nice hlg 650 or 3 second hand from a friend she's got 6 650rs wired to 240v and I got alot of indoor space I think I'm gonna start throwing all my strains outside and clone each and flower out quickly so I can pheno hunt my moms. And while there Turning into monsters outside I can do a few quick clone 1 week veg strait to flower to get some jars filled up and I can hopefully find something worth crossing or bx since I got 6 different 10 packs of regs and a few gems but I honestly prefer regs because I like the solid genes of male female I'm not to hyped about hermaphroditism breed into fems.
I got alot of plans but for now we will keep trucking along. Thanks for following

I can't co plain one bit ... and sheesh do they stink already I'm blown away. I'd say there is no issue with the ground as being viable for cannabis.. what a direct hit of a shot in the dark.. super stoked.. this mornings praising leaves make me want to pull trigger on about 50 60more seeds asap I want the good moms so I can start my clone systems... gotta remember slow and steady I always bite off a whole lot and I'm not always sure I can shew it but I surely try hard as hell.. like I mean I have 5 plants in the ground .. and I don't even know there sex yet lol... nothing a shovel won't fix but I need to get some others going so I can replace males for my monster spots... I'm already a month behind with anything I state from today forward... here's how we're looking this am.. everything's kicking ass and happy
17134503528296207236008141421189.jpgthis Lil one got topped early and is displaying some variagation on the lower branch.. sweet.. Lil bit of munchingfrom something... and new growth is gorgeous.. lower single leaves are growing a lil from solo cup longevity and no notes
17134505035545144357841601812445.jpg17134507019586624917757800234222.jpg17134507215711448048254324765311.jpg
And these ones were a lil more cared for in the vessels can't complain about anything.

Loving this dirt .. super stoked I have some topping to do and I'm gonna clone all the tops. I'm gonna root em veg em for about a week and start bringing them into a dark room. For atleast 13 hours a day to flower them in mid summer but using outside light.. I got time to do it plus I'm ready to see some flowers it's been a few years.

Lil chilly last few morning plants haulted and drooped a lil bit gave em a Luke warm watering to warm up the roots it got up to the 60s today thankfully... I was seeing chewing spots.. couldn't see anything.. I thought it was residual effect to a branch falling on the plants but as I look closer I belive there are russet mites. The sns203 I use for prevention deters everything but mites so the Lil golden brown eastwards gotta be mites to me... there not spider mites.. I had a 8 month bowt with spider mites and LOST. I THREW IN THE FLAG AND BURNED 17 PLANTS WITH ISOPROPYL AND FIRE. THAT was a bitttchhh. Hopefully these bugs aren't as tough as spider mites.
20240426_165846.jpg20240426_165848.jpg20240426_165853.jpg20240426_170921.jpg20240426_170932.jpg20240426_170948.jpg
Any one got any good mites remedies. I'm thinking a spinosad or a pyrethrin because I'm not flowering anytime soon so I wanna nuke em

They kinda look like juvinel aphids but I know aphids act way diff and there young and eggs are easily detectable and when u see 1 or 2 there's usually a infestation coupled with chew marks.. the damage is thrips like but I don't see a thrips and I've delt with ,thrips ,aphids , root aphids, fungus gnats white fly spider mites... and now let's add russet mites to the list.

Spidermites was a big eye opener to preventative mantinance. I'm being hypervigelient with sns203 an organic fu guide and insecticide and deterant clove oil and rosemary oil works good but not for everything.. does pyrethrins and or spinosads and or insecticidal soaps kill micro biology. Because I'm focusing in a microbiology grow with organics. Any input would he appreciated

Will you transplant the 5 plants in the ground any further?
Like dig them up from the ground and move? No I'm gonna Train the 4 corners out and the one in the middle is gonna go up gonna be a monster groove... the ones in other vessels well see what happens with the stuff in the ground for now .. in after thought about the ground stuff I wish I woulda added peat and perlite to the ground when I tilled the ground is getting pretty packy on top where we're walking around the gates from the clay content but the stuff deeper was more loamy and I added a bag of happy Frog to the plot. I would like to add some good soil to ground under the vessels eventually and put those in the ground if everything goes well.20240428_170303.jpg
Everything is looking perky today did another round of sns 203 and added some soap in the spray I might do an iso soon because I keep seeing new mites daily
20240427_153705.jpg20240427_153753.jpg tell tale mite damage and signs copper is leafs on new growth and upward frill and curled upward tips of leaves are what got.me looking close in the first place.. been a few year since I delt with cannabis and bugs but it's like riding a bike ..they talk to you if you know what to listen for

I love big outdoor plants nothin like an 8+ ft tree! If your worried about soil compaction what iev seen Competition pumpkin growers do is use walking boards they put down a 2×10 or similar to help distribute there weight over a larger area to decrease there ground preasure psi. Can't wait see how It gos
