What up everyone???

So I've been working on my new stealth project but I have been approached with a awesome proposal!

My friend will be investing fully into a new grow.

He will be providing the basement, and all money for lights, fans etc.

He wants to do a soil grow with 50+ plants. I told him it's a ambitious number, but he is set on it.

I figure once I see the room I will know more.

What u guys think a few 1000watts and movers? I want to change his mind on soil. If u were in my position Would you use hydro, I am accustomed to dwc.
I think soil will be a hassle with the number of plants. Leaning towards ebb n flo.

Our budget is around 2gs to start with..

What u think ladies and gentlemen:)

Unless you want to make this a full time job, soil isn't the easiest medium. I'd go with a DIY flood and drain. As far as what you can be doing right now? Decide on what your goals are for yield and purchase the lighting that will accomplish that goal. Make sure he has the capability to run the lighting system that will accomplish your goal. If he doesn't, call an electrician.

Yes I feel hydro would work better also he is just set on soil idk why, it may soon become my fulltime job being as I am unemployeed and he has a open room. Most of the initial money will be for lights. I just don't know how many yet.

I have electrical experience so everything will be to code. I usually work with dwc, can you give me a price range to start a large scale flood n drain?

Between your hydro store and Lowes, you can put a flood and drain system together for under $60. I don't know how much space you have but the DIY f&d system can easily support 6 plants and yield 1 lb under a 600 watt. If you run 1000's, you may need to set up some larger table of maybe 9 plants per table.

What are your goals as far as yield goes?

I want to do tables like that.
the room is atleast 12x12 probably bigger.

We want to run about 2-3k watts.
Thinking of a light mover also.

It's will be a sea of green, purple erkle clones.
I'm not sure what to expect on yield.

I don't know how your going to pull off 50 plants with 2 gs. I'd would spend 2g's on lights alone.
Also if you got the height why not let them veg a bit.

But based on what you said I would get;
-4 600w HPS
-2 4x8 Ebb & Flow /w separate reservoirs
-1200 CFM /w Carbon Filter
-Nutrients of Choice, Cal/Mg, PH Up/Down
-Hydroton, PH/TDS/EC Meters

At this point I would have exceeded $2000 with money still to be spent but that covers most of it.
Also if your going SOG you might want to set up a couple mothers, I'd use DWC Buckets and a MH or T5 Fluoros

Based on what you said this is what I would do.
Just a quick idea I'd need to see a room and a day of planning to make the best of my space though.

2k is tight but your crazy spending 2k on lights alone.... if the room has a/c just get 3 1000 watt sunsystem mag ballast and cordset and bulb and batwing for 250 delivered, i can link ya if you need. mover and one rail is 250. thats 1000 and your lighting is done, unless you need chains to hang them.

soil get 5 bags of 3.8 pro mix and some additives and 50 buckets thats under 300. nutes -200 so theres 1500, now get fans and odor control and you have some money left over.

By 2000+ on lights I mean If I grew 50 plants. 1st not SOG,2 Rooms Veg/Flower and about 8k Watts worth of light :)
Plus I'm up in Canada and I buy from my local hydro store and even though the CND $ been kicking ass (in a consumers/middle class opinion) out damn prices are more expensive than on the yankee side.

For example I live near a border town. Gas was 97.9 Cents/Litre. I crossed the border and was paying 75 Cents/Litre I figured with exchange and everything.
Don't make sense to me specially since the gas probably came from the Alberta tar sands -_-

Sounds killer. I am setting up a good size room but am limited to 15 plants here in washington..Ive spent about 1000 sofar on lights and getting the room all sealed up. This week is payday and its time for fans and filters....Good luck with your grow up there in the great white north aay. Keep it low key and enjoy for years to come.....

I would go with some

-XXtrasun 1000w HPS
-Xxtrasun AC Hoods (6" or 8")
-lamps
-1 roll panda
-6" or 8" high velocity fans

I would also consider wiring some 220v outlets and running a majority of equipment @220v for efficiency and safety reasons. Always good to have an extra breaker and or disconnect/ sub-panel in between your equipment and the service. Stay up to code.......

Should have said this before, but do you trust your friend? I know your friend is investing in this, but Be wary of putting any of your personal money into this in case it grows legs and walks away, especially when its not in your house.....

Exactly what he said, SOG would be your best bet if your planning on doing what i know your gunna do.

I plan on doing a setup similar to this, I will just need to purchse lights, fans, and a tray. I will be buying pumps that pump around 250 gallons per hour will this suffice. I have a 400 mh hps to use also. I have a good source for cheap lights so I'm not worried About those however I think I will be trying convince him to maybe lower the plant count and the lights maybe 3-4 600s and the 400 I have for vegging

I have many meters, and nutrients already.

I will be helping with the room setup, and getting my friend accustomed to growing in water. We will be doing sea of green however I want to lower the number to say 25-35 I think 50 is too many to deal with.
