Gnats sticking around

Having a small problem with gnats currently and hoping to find some ways to help get rid of them. Ive got yellow sticky paper on the way, deciding the next route to go to kill eggs and whatnot. Ive read that Diatomaceous Earth can be used but have seen other people saying its nasty stuff to work with. Have seen sand mentioned but that it can increase powder mildew, peralite possibly? Any other suggestions as well as sprays possibly that would not harm the plants?

Thanks!

Mosquito dunks if you are in America contain the correct bacterium to kill the larvae and stop the cycle.

in the U.K. I’ve used a product called Gnatrol before.

haven’t had any gnats for what seems like an eternity.

I did see Mosquito dunks mentioned a couple times but nothing too in depth on the. I am in the states so i will look into those! Thanks for the response.

EDIT- From what i gather i can soak a mosquito dunk in a bucket of water overnight, then water my plants with that water? That is safe and wont harm the plants/roots? Once every 2 weeks or so?

Sounds about right.

you may want to investigate how they got in and make precautions so it doesn’t happen again.

Honestly no clue how they got in. I live in Colorado so its been a bit colder recently but they just showed up. I never saw them anywhere else in the house. Not sure on that one..

Notes f series, thanks!

Just got my sticky paper and misquito bites today, will get those hung and a mosquito bite water going this weekend. Over the past few days ive been seeing less gnats and less frequently. Hoping thats a good sign. Usually only see two at a time tops and try to kill them haha. Thanks for all the advice everyone.

I like to cut the sticky traps and line them around the inside rim of the pot as shown below for catching fungus gnats.
Sticky traps help with monitoring and catching adults but getting the larvae is the way to eliminate gnats.

My best results so far at controlling gnats has probably been related to my introduction of fresh worm castings that contain hypoaspis mile mites, they are predator mites that eat gnat larvae and from what I can tell have had the biggest impact on my gnat situation.

I have use DE and perlite layering them after a good watering in past grows.
Never used sand. Some have had great success with sand, I've never heard about sand causing PM issues.
If you make sprays from concentrate note that some should be used the day they are mixed and have a short shelf life after being mixed.
Good Luck!
