Gnats and Spider mites.

I was dealing with gnats but after reading some spider mite info that was raging on riu I headed in and noticed those tell tale white spots. Sure as shit the little bastards were all over my most advanced plant a few weeks flowering. Busted out the neem oil and detergent in warm water and sprayed the shiit out of tops and bottoms.
Hung the no pest strip. Tomorrow is time to water anyway so I will add the oil for the gnat larvae. The point is I fought the mites once in veg and they were gone so long I forgot them. I stopped misting my leaves which would have helped the webs appear. Once I started spraying the neem they appeared very nicely. As much as I hate it I I need to practice prevention. I have such a clean environment I thought maybe I was exempt, lol :wall:

if you think you've eradicated those little bastards with one application of anything you're more than likely using something very very toxic OR you didn't really eradicate them at all.

071121055804.ashx.png Kills everything trust me(except your plants) ;-) you can get it at home depot or walmart and the vapor will kill the adults thus not allowing them to reproduce. Within 2 days there will be no pest.

ah your in flowering... dust probably wouldnt be the best thing to use. ill check in the morning and see what it says about fruits and veggie use. and toxicity.

and my mom is a gardener and told me about the stuff. she said she always uses it if spider mites show up and she said it works every time. i asked her how soon they come back if at all and she told me she usually never sees them back on the same plants and its a long time in between if at all.

you wanna avoid poisons that will leave a residue for longer than you would flower for, some systemics are in the plant for 60 days. If you really want to control spider mites and do it safely there's a product called Mighty Wash and it works well. But like any non-poison insecticide it has to contact the insects. The neem I've heard people praise and then suddenly they're saying "I'll never use that shit again" , I've never used, the only other products I've used are purespray green (which is very cheap to use and also pretty safe, its nothing more than petroleum oil. you could probably lube up with it *wink wink*) ......now where the fuck was I? so any oil does nothing but suffocates the little bastards , although neem interrupts some hormone. If spraying your plants with oil weirds you out try mighty wash, not a drop of oil(remember , oil suffocates, it doesn't know the difference between a mite and stomata so it's got to clog a little). The gnats if in soil you should unleash some nematodes on the little bastards, this will kill the larvae and thats what really does the damage(although adults stuck to your buds is a slight buzzkill). I'm real strange about oils in my roots.

Actually neem attacks the central nervous system kills the fuckers dead!then suffocates the larvae, all in all a very safe effective product and can be used up until harvest. Now there is a very distinct smell to neem and be honest it not pleasant but after a few spray downs with soapy water plants clean shiny and pest free. also remember to spray your soil down and i even add a touch of neem to my tea .As for pesticides or poisons well it's your lungs :bigjoint:

so what i found out with the rose dust and sevin dust is.....stay away from the rose dust cause its some bad shit. but as far as sevin dust goes you might be able to use it. directions say it can be used on pretty much anything and it lists all kinds of veggies and fruits including lettuce and leafy edibles like that so i dont see why you couldnt use it although they recommend you not use it in the last 30 days before harvest. if you use it make sure you can hose your plants off and get the dust off and out of them. and its fine at any time in and on the soil.

man I just today uttered words about sevin on buds I bought back in the 80s, good kansas grown shit. So I smoke some and notice this odd aftertaste , I look at the bag closer and what I thought was frosty goodness that had fallen off the bud was actually sevin dust/ I instantly called the dude and complained even though it was some very good weed, so I tell the dude there's some shit on it and finally got it out of him that it was sevin dust, I tried washing the bud out but that didn't work. gave you a nice buzz but also gave you a nice headache. So anyway I tell this guy how shocked I am that he would even spread this on buds man, wtf. he's like "we put it on tomatos" and I'm like "we don't fucking smoke tomatos, gimmie my fucking money back", fucking poisoner.

My general rule of thumb is if it has a warning label it goes in the trash.google is your friend type in natural pest control and organic pest control get all the info you can digest.

100 percent organic and also affective is hard to find and when you do it's expensive, I just paid 180 bux for a quart of pyganic ec 5, if you want something that will def kill shit this is it. And 100 percent organic.

I wonder what people don't like about neem oil. Unless they don't use warm water
and it makes the plant very ugly. It has worked for me perfectly but then again
I look at the plants a few times a day so I prolly catch the infestation
before it is way out of hand. The odd thing is that only one plant had
them and they rub on each other all the time. I neemed all of them anyway just in case.
