Hey everyone! After my last grow, I've decided to get one started that was a little outside my norm.

*This grow is a 12/12 from seed grow(The plants will receive 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness each day from seed to harvest.)

*I am growing in FoxFarm Ocean Forest soil, my soil of choice for all bio growing.

*I run a 400X hps lamp with a strong yellow-red spectrum.

*I feed my plants with Advanced Nutrients only.

-Grow, Micro, Bloom, BigBud, B-52, Bud Ignitor, Bud Factor X, and Voodoo Juice.

*I am growing in a 3x2' area, with mylar.

*One rotational fan and one directional fan keep my air moving constantly.

THE STARS: Blue Widow (http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/dinafem-seeds-blue-widow/prod_47.html)
Fast Bud (http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/sweet-seeds-fast-bud/prod_1306.html)

THE POINT: Blue Widow, an F1 hybrid (Blueberry X White Widow), is being grown with Fast Bud, a popular autoflowering strain, in order to gauge the effects of the 12/12 from seed method from photoperiod-governed strains in comparison to those of autoflowering strains.
HYPOTHESIS: THE BLUE WIDOW PLANT WILL BEGIN FLOWERING WITHIN THREE-FIVE DAYS OF THE AUTOFLOWERING FAST BUD PLANTS.
*Autoflowering plants get their unique trait from their ruderalis influence. They have a natural timer encoded into their DNA that automatically triggers flower production when the plant reaches a certain age. With Fast Bud, SweetSeeds has claimed that age to be +/-14 days from sprout.

I will begin this grow log with my first week's Log below.

Here, the plants are exactly one week old.

Observational Log, Week 1, Jan 27 2012
-Fast Buds show typical growth
*slight stretching, even after transplantation from starter cups.
*second leaf set has begun to develop
*uniform growth among all 3 plants
-FastBud plant #3 shows a lead in growth (leaf size and stalk length) over the two others.
*Blue Widow shows fastest growth.
-large first leaves and much stretching (perhaps more soil later)
-Second leaf set has begun to develop.

Thursday, Feb 02 Update:

-Diesel Ryder 3 is visibly larger than 1 and 2.
*Possible that this plant lacks the autoflowering quality; possible that plant 3 is diesel exclusive.
-Plants are beginning to yellow more in the center of the new growth. Pre-flowers soon?

OBSERVATIONAL LOG, WEEK 2, Feb 4 2012

Shown Below: All plants (a), Blue Widow (b)
IMG_1476.jpgIMG_1483.jpg
Here, the plants are exactly 2 weeks old.

Observatonal Log:
-Blue venom topped.
-FastBud 2 and 3 topped. FastBud 1 was not topped due to slower development.
-FastBud plants have doubled in size.
-No internodal structures visible yet.

*transplanted FastBud 2 and 3 into larger containers.
*Administered first nutrient feeding at about 300 ppm.

SUNDAY update: Feb 5 2012
-Blue Venom shows steady growth; great recovery from topping. Internodal growth can now be seen.
Today's feeding gave the plants a little more feed than yesterday, but still at 300 ppm.

Week 3 Observations: saturday, feb 11, 2012.

On this saturday, the eleventh day of february, 2012, ends the third week of growth for my plants.

Pictured below: All four plants, Blue Widow, BigBud1, BigBud2, BigBud3
all 4.jpgblue widow.jpgJackMove.jpgphoenix.jpgst louis.jpg
Very good, vigorous growth has been noted, especially after the administration of my nutrient solution.

FINAL WEEKLY OBSERVATIONS

*Blue Widow plant leads the others in growth.
-small spots on the outer edges of three-speared fan leaves noticed on tuesday; they have since gone away.
-Blue Widow plant has responded to topping more successfully than anticipated; 3 evenly sized, healthy tops.
-the first leaf set has been removed due to spotting and ATP prioritization to the tops.
-Unfortunately, no pre-flowers yet.
*All 3 FastBuds show pre-flowers.
-Plant 1 shows the most preflowers; 15 long, white stigmas were counted.
-Plant 2 shows only one little stigma; poor girl.
-Plant 3 has eight visible stigmas and has been left un-topped.

In conclusion, growth is coming along very nicely. With the possibility of early harvest now very real, I expect finished crops within the next 5-6 weeks. Tune in guys, this one looks to bring some nice info pertaining to expedited harvesting. :)

A quick update: the tops on the blue widow are starting to stretch and leaf production is becoming quite extreme. I expect to see preflower structures by tuesday. If so, my hypothesis will have been correct!! Here's hoping, guys.

One more update: I have not purchased Bud Factor X yet, and have been feeding with BudCandy, a carbo supplement and flower sweetener that will also fuel my beneficial microbes (VooDoo Juice). I feel this is a better supplement than Factor X for the time being, and also money is a bit tight :P

not a noob but not a vet. either. was just wondering how big they get and how long they go when starting out in 12? Can you get em to max potential that way?

As far as how big they get, I grew my last plants (OG Kush #18 ) 12/12 from seed and they finished at 22 inches tall, 23g dry each, on average.

And you DEFINITELY can get them to max potential. The OG18s I harvested were super, super crip herb, and as long as your lighting and nutrient protocol is on point, there is no reason whatsoever why your plants wouldn't finish well. Sub to this thread and see for yourself the wonders of 12/12 from seed! :P

LATE VALENTINES DAY UPDATE!!!

On this 14th day of February, 2012, I spotted tiny white stigmas on the Blue Widow Plant! If my camera had good zoom capability I would post pictures, but sadly it doesnt, therefore I'll have to take some shots in a few days, once they're more visible. But all-in-all this is excellent news.

PHOTO UPDATE:

Here are shots from yesterday.
here are all fourIMG_1508.jpg
here is the blue widow from aboveIMG_1510.jpg
here she is at an angle so you can see here three healthy tops. I have to brag a bit about this one, guys.IMG_1512.jpg
this is fastbud1 from aboveIMG_1514.jpg
and at an angle; here you can see that she did not respond as well to topping as the other two did. She has a few deformed fan leaves that are growing at odd angles, and there has been some undesirable stretching and formation among the preflowers. HOWEVER, I have noticed recovery since yesterday.IMG_1516.jpg

here is fastbud two from above.
she displays diesel-dominant phenotypes and has responded very well to toppingIMG_1518.jpg
here she is close-up. notice the nice, healthy topsIMG_1520.jpg
this is fastbud 3, who has remained un-topped as a control of sorts.IMG_1522.jpg
here you can see how she exhibits nice, prolific budding.IMG_1524.jpg

I attribute most of my plants' fast, expansive growth to my nutrient profile. BUD IGNITOR, by Advanced nutrients will maximize budding sites, therefore directly increasing your yield. Check it out here:

http://advancednutrients.com/hydroponics/products/bud_ignitor/bud_ignitor_product_information.php

Even if used stand-alone, this wonderful supplement will make very happy puppies out of your girls.
I recommend BUD IGNITOR to all growers, period.

I was surprised to see just how indica dominant she turned out as opposed to the fast bud which really is nothing more than re-worked Diesel Ryder. I understand that Blueberry is a strong indica, but those leaves are fat. And that only means one thing: I got the fruity, sweet variant of this strain as opposed to the bitter, tangy, white-widow-dominated variant!

Daddy loves him some blueberry.

UPDATE

LST has gone superbly. Monitoring nutrient concentration because of slight burn spots on Blue Widow plant. Some affected leaves have been removed in order of priority. Pics up soon.
