gifting an auto flower

I was gonna give my friend an auto acid from paradise seeds after I veg it out for 3 weeks because he has been down on his luck, I mean he just survived a house fire... anyways he doesn't have special equipment so he just wanted to keep the auto in the window sill. My question is, how important is a consistent night schedule? Like I expect him to walk around his new place with this as his child and the amount of direct sunlight length of darkness will probably be random everyday. I know it will still flower but how detrimental would it be?

inconsistent lighting doesn't matter as long as its getting 12 - 12+ hours a day of light the dark period has nothing to do with flowering on a stable auto

you could be a nice guy and scrounge up some cfl's and a few cheap fixtures so he would have a place to put it when the sun goes down it will help wonders
