Gibberelic Acid

Has anyone ever soaked there seeds in a Gibberelic acid solution before germinating? I have read that it makes it more likely you'll get a female sprout. Just wanted to get some feed back before i try this on my expensive seeds.

never used it for germinating...id be afraid it would hermie the plant...if you do happen to get a fem from it i would think she would be a BBW!!

Never heard of it.
We believe that seeds have pre-determined gender that can't be altered by environment, but not everyone would agree

Why re-invent the wheel, just germinate it and grow pot, KISS

Its a type of steroid also known as GA3...if memory serves me correctly. Im thinkin soaking your seeds in it wont make them for sure females...

GA3 will aid in germination, but must be washed as soon as the seed pops and a tail is showing. If its not washed off it will kill the seedling. I have seen this asked in advanced cultivation thread. Check there and do some searching around the site. I dont believe the GA3 will induce female. I have seen several charts that lead me to believe temp and light wavelength have an affect on gender.

It's used to produce pistillate flowers on male plants and staminate flowers on female plants. It's sprayed directly onto leaves. I didn't see any information about it killing seedlings.

An interesting read.^^^
dannyboy got it.. gilberelic acid is pretty much like using collodial silver on your plants to make fem beans.. idk why more people tend to use c/s from what i have read, but you can also use g.a. to do the same thing..

and dr. jeckel, i kind of disagree on the predetermined sex thing and in fact believe certain environmental factors can determine health, much in the way of alligator eggs, but i don't think there's any real science to back up either claim..
