well i kinda just threw together the idea to start growing one night. see i threw a few bag seeds in germination and ended up with one good plant. i been growing it for a bout 4-8 weeks. im not exactly sure how long. but it IS a female i have huge preflowers in two different places so far. although i am using a 160 watt and one 60 watt bulb tboth i was using for the motion sensor out on my garage porch. any how the plant is about a foot and a half tall and i have it in a 3 gallon bucket with about 2 gallons of soil. i just started giving it plant food about a week ago. the plant seems to be growing pretty quickly even though my lighting isnt so efficient. im curious how long i can keep it in veg state with the preflowers and if these lights are efficient enough to keep growing ( i only plan to let it get about 2 and a half feet tall and maybe even try to bud them in the flowering stage. even though i plan to pick up a hps or mh system for flowering. can anyone give me some answers... i have the lights about 18 inches away because they are hot. i get about an inch or two of growth every day and i am currently on 18 on 6 off. so how would i go about topping the plant then

Hi Chillin,

You can keep a plant in veg state for years if you give it the right amount of light.
18 hours on 6 hours off would be fine. It’s when the plant gets only 12 hours of daylight is when it will flower. In veg lights are cheap. Use fluorescents at about a foot away. It’s when you flower your going to wanna drop a few bucks on a HPS. $100 or so on eBay.

This is probably a good time to top her too. Toss it in a glass of water and let it get some light to. You may end up with two plants.

Thing is, you said huge pre flowers. Its hard to say without a pic but huge sounds like it is in flower already.
If thats the case you can let her finish or get her on 18/6 and re veg. It takes about a month. slows growth down but it can be done if you want a mother and take several clones and get a real harvest.

I stand corrected.
If you use 4 foot shop lights, then a foot away is fine.
If you use cfls then you want to be much closer.

Thanks dialup.

Unless its autoflowering strain it really shouldnt show preflowers unless its light is cut off for 12 hours or so at a time... Its true that your veg lights can vary from cheap to way cheap but in order to get dense buds your gonna want to use some flouro instead of cfl or for the best possible buds hps.. www.insidesun.com has an ebay store 250 watt hps for 90.00 bucks.. 8 weeks to veg is good you should start it on 12-12 now to really hit those preflowers with darkness... remember do not expose it to more than a couple min of light once you go 12-12.. it will fuck up the flowering stage and could send it back into veg.. or at worst give you herme's.. throw some pics up im interested to see what ya working with.!!

not true....they wouldnt be called preflowers if the plant has to be in flowering for them to show. hence the name - PREflowers!!:wall:
