Hey guys I made myself a little grow tent about 3x3x5 lined it with some shiny foil stuff and put a 600w hps in there. now i have all 4 sides closed off and the top is partially open and there is a little sliver on one side at the bottom open about 4-5" tall I was just wondering if i needed to get fans in there to move air around or anything what is a good temp to keep the area at? I normally grow outside but have been messing around with indoors till next outdoor season. any help would be great

yeah you need to keep the box temp below 80... an exhaust fan located at the top of your box pulling the hot air out would be a good start...also you need a fan oscillating in the box blowing air around circulating it properly...

Keep the temps 70-80. If you have to, keep the lid off (lights on) and blow a fan from the outside in, a large fan 40cm, this will pull down a few degrees.

looks like ill need to go get a thermometer or something so i know how hot it is and go from there the lights are on mostly at night went its the coldest to offset the heat from the lam but ill get osme readings and go from there thanks guys> i put a small room fan on low and it cooled it down in minutes ill have to look into small fans even computer fans just to more the air around.

the inside is painted white but i thought the foil would be a better reflector no ? as for heat old computer fans and a 120v to 12v adapter and some minor wiring and were all good :) foil vs white paint now wich is better?

White paint is way better. More light reflective, less heat reflective. Honestly, the only thing foil is good for reflecting is heat, but we're not cooking a turkey here. If silver instead of white makes you feel better for some reason (really white is good), spend $3 and get one of those safety space blankets from the camping store.

well i fogot i got 2 open side on this box so taking down the foil will leave two open sides :( is the foil gonna make a big difference being up or what?

Personally I would either get a $3 space blanket, or a big piece or card board for the missing walls. I'm not a fan of foil for reflectors at all. It's really not very light reflective. As I said, it does reflect heat very well, so if you wanna keep all that heat in, go for it!

If you have a local grow store id go there and get 2 faced reflcetive film (one side shiny black & one side shiny white) it works great. And for the top of your grow room id get the wood cut it to size then screw it down completely seal it off, and for the heat just throw in some 6 inch fans not just one and at the very top on tha side cut a hole out for heat to blow out using a fan and do the same at the bottom to bring in the cool air. Hoped this helped.

its gonna be a little challenge keeping a 600hps cool in that box without proper ventilation and i dont think computer fans will do the trick but also paint it white like stated above and be careful about any light leaks.....but the biggest issue i see is tempeture but all you will need is proper vent system

but otherwise its a nice little grow box thumbs up just ix those light leaks and get the temps stable and it should work great
