GH Maxi Series for hydro

I'm currently running a drain-to-waste drip system setup using Advanced nutrients 3-part (Micro, Grow, Bloom) and I am quite pleased with the results. However, I'll be pretty much out of the AN 3 part once this crop is done. I'm considering purchasing the AN 3-part again, but I currently have a 4 lb bucket each of GH MaxiGrow and MaxiBloom dry powdered hydro nutes that I could use (actually I would rather use them for cost and convenience reasons). So my question is, have any of you used this nute series in a hydro setup, and if so, how did it perform? Any anecdotal info on this line of nutrient would be great, thanks.

i have maxibloom now, and plan to use it exclusively for the whole lifecycle, except adding about 10% Nitrogen.

Maxi series are great cost wise, add a bit of nitrogen to bloom and you get Lucas.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Yeah, I'm currently employing the Lucas formula and I did notice the nutrient profile for MaxiBloom was similar (5-10-9 for Lucas, 5-15-14 for MaxiBloom). What do you use to exclusively add nitrogen?

It is all I use, and I have been quite pleased with the results.
Good to hear. Do you use the manufacturers recommended feeding schedule or do you have it customized?

i haven't decided yet, but something with high nitrogen, and the magnesium part is what is getting me. This one on amazon I was looking at is like 15-0-0-13. May be too high mag so looking for one with less mag.

I've used the Maxi series in both hydro and soil grows and have been very happy with the results. I agree with the other comments here about needing to add some Grow to the Bloom. I usually add somewhere between 1/4 to 1/2 tsp Grow per four gallons to keep the plants lush and green.

A long time ago I spoke to the chemist at GH who said the Maxi series was "undervalued" by most growers. Nowadays everyone wants a liquid fertilizer, but he thought Maxi was a quality nutrient that's easy to use and a fraction of the price. Of course GH and all the other nutrient companies are happy to charge a premium for liquid nutrients that are mostly water, but for some reason growers seem to think liquid fertilizer is more advanced or that mixing a dry nutrient is hard. Except for the need to add Grow to the Bloom nutrient I agree that Maxi is awesome stuff.

I get a good laugh reading product labels at my local hydro store. There's so much marketing hype out there it's completely out of control. My favorite examples of this are PurpleMaxx (dude, like, it might work, we don't really know, but we're still gonna charge $60/quart) and Kushie Kush (utilizes the unique metabolic pathways of the kush plant. Ha ha ha, you guys crack me up, if you figured that out where's your Nobel prize?)

There's lots of ways to waste your money if you're going to fall for fancy labels and scientific sounding mumbo jumbo, but products that are unique or give a real advantage are few and far between.

I run the Maxi series as well, I'm not even considering a change. Give them a try I don't think that you will be disappointed.

Haven't run Lucas before, but I can tell you Maxi nutes are definitely some good nutes. I ran them, the Bloom and Grow, for a while, but eventually switched to GH three part because my water is so hard here, that it was hard to dissolve all the salts in my water.
