Test grow Gage Green Genetics

Ken's GrandDaddy Purple X Lemon Thai x C99
ggg.gdpxltc99-001.jpg

As soon as the package arrived in the mail, I dropped 6 beans in a cup for soaking in distilled water. BTW, all very healthy looking plump seeds.

I plan to do the test grow in two stages with soaking the remaining 6 beans in about 2 weeks from now. I'm making cuttings of the other strains in my veg cabinet and culling off the seed plants, so more space is opening up very soon. Small scale grower here, I will have to flower all from cuttings.

A brief rundown of the growroom details.

Coco/perlite mix
H&G Cocos A&B fert
Great White mycorrhizal
Calmag
Hygrozyme
AN Hammerhead P/K
Roots Excel
r/o water
250W CMH flowering
2X 100W MH veg

Next update: sprouts!

After a 24 hour soak and 5 of 6 have cracked, looks like the 6th one might crack tomorrow, hope.

ggg.gdpxltc99-002.jpg
Put the 5 directly into the coco, and now I wait.

The flower setup is a 250W CMH in a cool tube..
in a 3 X 2 cabinet, but I will shortly do away with the cool tube and mount the light/reflector a foot higher on the roof of the cab for more headroom and better cooling. more lumens and UV can hit the Dank.

We now have 6 sprouts reaching toward the 100W CMH light. I had to help a few get past the shell, so I used a tweezer and help it crack open the shell. I didnt scuff the seeds, just straight to soak. All of them have the purplish colored stems, a few even have purple tinted cotyledons.

A week later and the babies are getting ready to take off. Fairly even growth, some with wider looking leaves. Lowered them a bit further away from the light, getting a bit close to the heat. Watering with veg nute, Cocos A&B, calmag, hygrozyme, roots excel.

Thanks SupaM!

Hey folks, update: I have been battling a root aphid infestation, I first noticed it a couple of weeks ago, tiny, tiny (some near microscopic) white bugs crawling all over the pots and rim. Luckly the testers were the least affected, they were elevated but they did get some damage. The lower level of the veg shelf ended up decimated.

I had Azamax so I first gave them that, some help. Ordered Gognats thinking its fungus gnats. More internet searching and hit them with spectracide, still the Borg is surviving so more azamax. The 2 Transformers, 2 GSOG, and 2 Grape13 near death, same for 3 Fugu Kush that were vegging. The Apollo 11 and Spice's hanging on but not good. From those that could, I took cuts of the worst ones and trashed the moms.

By now Im figuring its Root Aphids. Plants getting worse so I ordered some Botanigard. The Gognats come in, so gave them a good soak in that. Smells good, but little help. By the time the Botanigard comes in the plants are alive, but no new growth at all, but the testers were still in better shape but slowed down in growth. Meanwhile, The Borg is still crawling over all the place.

The Botanigard Worked! by the next day, less and less crawlers. One day feed, next day botanigard, feed. Now I have to look hard to even find one or two, so that shit works! new growth everywhere.. finally.

Thats the first time I had to really deal with bugs of the bad kind while growing. I was lucky, never took it serious. From my reading and the white waxy residue these buggers leave behind on the pots, I have had this bug for years.. but never this bad, always just got by I guess.. but in the end, I only lost a sweet Kandy Kush mom.. all else survived.

I even went all out and ordered Met52 and Caps bennies, so from now any new soil will get the met52/caps bennis treatment from the sprouting stage on.

Whew, that was a long read.. now on to the Testers.!

I soaked the remaining 6 beans sometime during this fiasco and 5 sprouted and made it. I repotted the older ones into netpots and now have white fuzzy roots shooting out everywhere. Also topped them. There is distinct differences appearing now from a wide crinkle leaf like to a shorter internode more hybrid leaning narrower leaf one. Hopefully the damage from the root aphids is stopped on any new growth.

Thanks bro, That was sure a learning experience. Still never completely eliminated those funkers, a few random here and there but Im still have a couple of secret weapons being unleashed.

Well from the first batch of 6, we have 4 confirmed MALES.. (#2,4,5,6) of the 2 remaining, one has confirmed female preflowers (#3) while the other (#1) has not preflowered yet, so Im assuming its gonna turn female. Hopefully there is a few more females in the 2nd batch of 5.

#3 has a short stature, with tight internodes with good side branching. The leaves are more of a middle/hybrid look with perky pointed tips. It has this "frosted" kind of texture/look to the thick leaves, and has this greasy feel when rubbing a leaf. Mid to mild dank smell, not sure... Lemon Thai pheno..?
ggg.gdpxltc99-009.jpgggg.gdpxltc99-008.jpgggg.gdpxltc99-010.jpg

#1 is similar to #3 but a hair taller, and bigger leaves. It also has that same semi "frosted" texture/look to the leaves as #3 and greasy feel. Lighter very mild smell.
ggg.gdpxltc99-011.jpgggg.gdpxltc99-012.jpg

The remaining 5 seedlings will be ready for transplant tomorrow. I still see a few random root aphids on the veggers.. so I didnt completely eliminate them, but the growth has resumed big time. I also gave them a bit of MET52 and Caps Bennies a couple of days ago. I now see great, almost explosive growth on all.

Transplanted and put the 2 from the first batch in flower 8 days ago. Both are still in the stretch phase.. these are the seed plants, so Im wishing for less stretch. Nice even growth and vigorous. Smell test, a bit of sour pepper, not really fruity, both have similar smells. I feeding the same nutes with half strength of Snowstorm ultra .. I ran out of Hammerhead what I normally would use in bloom.

The second set of 5 are still vegging and I will take cuts first, root and flower the cuttings. By then the Apollo 11's would be done and open up some flower cab space.

Both are on day 8 of flowering:

Update: We have Buds! Day 25 of flowering. Both #1 and #3 are budding up nicely, the stretch wasnt too bad. #3 the short squat, tight internode gal ended up stretching more than #1 did. I had to pinch and bend one branch on it (#3). #1 had minimal stretch and has taken on a more fruity dank smell.. #3 barely has any fruity/sweet smell, but still that spicy sour/evil smell to her. No purple hues yet.

On the second batch of 5 veggers, 2 has shown as males, (#7, 8. Out of the remaining 3, 2 has gone female (#9,11) and the third is still undecided. Both are at day 4 12/12 so far.. I think #9 might give some purple, hopefully.

Being that crosses done with the LTC99 male has shown instability with other testers, I looked over both gals carefully and no nanners were found so far.. I'm going to run these to the end and if no issues arise I will flower out the cuttings as well. I took 2 cuttings from each female prior to flowering and they are happily vegging along right now. I hope its stable cause this cross looks real dank.. #1 is looking as my fave so far.

A few pics, my primary camera had dead batteries, so my cheapo camera will have to do for now. Next update I will have more hi-res pics.

Update: Ladies #1 and #3 at Day 41. Vert growth has stopped and filling out nicely, have been vigilantly checking them over with a flashlight and I'm happy to say that I have yet to see a nanner. #1's buds are tightly packed and quite a lot of resin and pistls so its easy to miss any nanners until too late.

#1 smell is like a fruity rubbery vomit. intoxicating fumes.

#3 is just packing it on. Needed some tying up to keep her from leaning over, this one looks to yield better than #1. Smells .. a sharp lemon like vomit..? The bud leaf has a bit of reddish stem and leaf vein, so still holding out for some coloration to appear later on.

Another female #9 actively budding Day 18. Getting frosty. Similar smells to #3, a fruity spicy smell.

The fourth female #10 is lagging a bit, probably still more stretch to go.

The random male.. it is #8, not #7. #7 turned out to be a female! I will flower the cut of #7 after more veg.

Day 51: #1 is looking to finish up soon. A quick check with the scope shows just about all cloudy w/a few amber scattered trics.. even with white pistils still present. Just started the flushing, I used the "Final Phase" flushing agent once and am just giving plain water everyday for maybe a week. Thinking that it has the flowering speed of the C99. Tight nugs, not really a fruity smell.. like the best I can describe, kinda like that old school dank smell. It smells so .. well I just wanna smoke this one now!

#3 still has a bit to go, the resin has some kind of a rubbery/fuely smell. Probably another 2 weeks to go..? I'll have some pics of her in the next update.

Thanks Mysticwolf, Welcome. bongsmilie

Update: #1 was taken down at day 55, the buds have been drying for a few days and now in curing. Very resiny, even after dry, the buds have this gummy feel from all the resin. Clogs up my Mendo Mulcher. A sample nug vaped is a blast off and hits right in my forehead with that warm buzz feeling, potent stuff! I have a clone of the same #1 that I just put into flower.. I'll let her go longer this time, around 70 days or so.

#3 is finishing up.. now at day 62 of flowering. Just started the flushing and probably to take her to 70 days. This one has more chunky type buds, and has started to foxtail a little. Smells like rubbery/vomit/fuel.. if anything, a tiny bit of color is appearing here and there on the buds.

A few shots of #3 at day 72, tomorrow is chop day, been on flush for over a week. This one will be a yielder over #1, big sticky STINKY buds. I'm only using a 250W.. I can only imagine with a 1K bulb and longer veg time
I mentioned stinky.. well she is STINKY
started getting strong about a week ago and now I cant stand it anymore, still giving off a rubber/fuel/vomit like smell. The smell is very "loud" and kinda too much for me
Buds are very dense, almost rocklike.. thankfully I cant see any mold.

I vaped a lower nug yesterday and while stoney, it wasnt really crippling. So will see after the dry/cure. Next update will be on #9 and #10.

Hey all, this LTC99 cross is still pumping out the dank. I have the 5 cuttings I made of each female testers flowering. They are much more under control this time than the seed plants are.

#9 and 10 are at day 61. #9 is about ready and with rock hard buds. Not as much resin as the others, but it is rootbound and lagged behind the others. The cutting is doing much better, in a larger pot and will have better results Im sure.

#9 is out of control.. the fat colas just flop down, a real stem snapper. Still a bit more to go.. maybe near 70 days.? Some nice foxtail going on, more even looking, not the wild foxtail like the others. Oh yeah! I did find a Nanner on her !
Serious, I did find one, still green, no pollen. Im sure there might/could be more.. too bad, this ones pretty nice.

Update, #9 was taken today at day 66.. well, half a harvest anyway. One cola still looks like a few days more to go. Will harvest that one in 2-3 days. Shes got big fat heavy dense nugs, I was fearing mold but none was found. The buds are VERY dense and highly resinated, smells pretty good, not too strong of an odor. A sour/fuely smell. No purple coloration at all.. With more veg time in a larger pot under more watts, this pheno would be a nice yielder. Found another Nanner on one of the nuggs.. no pollen dropped, a dud nanner. This one (#9) or #1 are my faves. Next update would be on #7, the last female of this group of testers which is currently flowering as a cutting.
