if you have a constant ambient temp of 68 at the stairs then thats your solution. but i would not suck the hot air out. i would blow the cool air in. it will do 2 things. it will obviously cool the closet similar to an a/c and it will deliver constant fresh air. i think thats the main reason your girls look unhappy right now. the heat alone isnt the problem, its the lack of fresh air in the grow space combined with the heat that is the problem. if you could run some ducting down stairs and blow that cool air in you would be golden and your plants would respond quickly.
