hi

been doing this for a year now ............i took a 3 month break and started back up

i am having issuses wit my seeds starting

i use the jiffy plug method ................plug water the dome sits ontop of a T5 light for the warmth they are kept in the dark (this is what i was doing before i stopped)

before i had only 4 failures in 8 months of growing .................but now i have 4 and looks like mayb 2 more

does anyone have a idea what is going on ..............or a better way to do it ...............my hands are not the correct size to handle seeds......so the wet papper towel is not a choice

Been using the old paper towel method and other than a couple of crappy seeds, it has done well for me. Not sure about your comment on your hands being too large to handle the seeds. I never touch them myself, when they've grown out the tail long enough to plant, I grab my girlfriends eyebrow tweezers and place them in a party cup, pre-moistened with filtered water or bottled water, the pre-moistended soil makes it easier to build their resting place and cover everything but the broken seed (with a straightened paper clip). Haven't had the greatest luck with other methods so I stick to this. Between 2 small coffee cup plates and on top of my router that's on 24/7, only thing with this location is they dry up in 24 hours so I moisten it daily, normally good to go in 3-4 days.

Do as bublechronic said soak in water till they show root then stick in soil but stick a plastic sandwich baggie loosely over pot in case seed comes up with shell or embryo on it, this way get a chance to save them before they dry out. Take baggie off as soon as see healthy sprout.

best way for me to put it

some ppl have the hands and are able to cut ppl open and do very fine work ................i am the other the one that u give the hammer to and say break this rock and move it ...........lady i know said it best i have saucage link fingers

i currently have it it in a Jiffy tray (36 cell) ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the jiffy tray sits on top of a t5 light (same one i used to do this on ........same method 1 cup water poured in the 4 coners so it would make humidy

i have a temp gun the tray is reading high 80s low 90s ............this is the same method i used before ...............i only had total of 4 failures out of 56 plants

1 our of 5 seeds spourted after 4 days i gave the other 4 extra 4 days ...........when i looked at them the tap root came out but that was it

I scarify with H202 and soak in fulvic/humic acids and I get 99-100% for as long as I can remember.

H202 for 30min

soak temp is 79-80F seeds pop around 12 hrs and then I relocate (dump) acid soak solution onto paper towel and place in between 2 foam plates used as a dome. I place a temp probe in the

plates with the seeds as to precisely measure/control temp. This goes inside a tall domes 10 x 20 flat with heat pad and digital controller. within 2 days my tap root is 2-4" long and ready for the plugs or collars.

Wet jiffys ,plant seeds, keep jiffyswet until germination. Put the tray of jiffys in the veg room its warm enough in there, about 4ft from the light and no domes . When they germinate reduce watering.
