Just wonder what other germination techniques people r using besides a wet napkin. I heard someone say once u can put'em in a glass of water and they'll sprout. This is not a question thread. Just post ur comments or don't.:peace::joint::mrgreen:

Also, anyone who post there ideas i will add to there rep. Cause thats the whole idea. Good ideas get good reps.

I currently have mine germinating in a ziplock of water, been there about a week and a half and seem to be doing well until their proper soil is ready

i use jiffy pots and its worked really well. it peat moss that expands when you put water on them and then put the seed in the middle of it. there the type that are 97cents a wallyworld. i put a cuple seeds that i thought werent going to do anything and bam there grown strong as ever.

i found a web site that has them so take a lookhttp://www.parkseed.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogDisplay?storeId=10101&catalogId=10101&langId=-1&mainPage=prod2working&ItemId=9093&PrevMainPage=textsearchresults&scChannel=Text%20Search&SearchText=jiffy&OfferCode=V1H

I use formulex @ a CF of 12 and a PH of 5.5
Dip the small rockwool into the water, squeez it to let some water out and some oxegen in. then just place the seed into that.

I put my seeds directly in the soil in a cup.....I then spray water it....and then cover the top of the cup with saran wrap...and put an elastic around it...to keep it tight......within 2-3 days.....they pop up...and I then remove the saran wrap.........

Awesome stuff. Keep the ideas coming. Very useful info. I guess i'm gonna still use the napkin. But i do have good luck with stickin the beans right in some soil. it takes a little longer for them to pop out but they're a little bit stronger plants i think. Any ideas of soakin the seeds in some kinda nutrient before planting them? Also i heard with that that adding just a very little drop of bleach to when u soak them eliminates bacterias and shit. I'm scared of that one. More ideas wanted Keep this post goin we might get stickied

check out this method and it worked for him...

I germinated by first lightly sanding the seeds with a nail file for approximately 30 seconds - 1 minute. I do this by taking about 5 seeds, make a cup with my hand place the seeds in the "cup" and lightly rub the file over them.

Some seeds needs to have the surface of their shells scratched or nicked inorder to wake the seed up from its sleeping period called dormancy. once water gets into the scratch it triggers hormones that causes the seed to awake and begin germination.

Next I soak the seeds in a cup of water. I simply get a coffee mug, fill it half way with melted snow, or rain water and sit it on top of my surround sound amp, which keeps it warm. I only leave them in there until most of them have sunk to the bottom. When I have a good feeling that most of them will sprout then I use the paper towel method to germinate seedlings.

I use a coffee mug bcuz it stores heat better than other types of cups, and I use melted snow bcuz, well hey its wintertime in Ohio and we got plenty of free snow, so why not?

My germination method is not different than what you would read -
2 paper towels, 2 plates...
I fold one paper towel in half and sit it on the plate. I take the coffee mug thats halfway full of rain water and seeds and dump half the water on the paper towel, pick out the seeds with a spoon and set them in a circle on the paper towel...
I then take the other paper towel, fold it in half and simply place it overtop of the seeds, I lightly sprinkle the remaining water over it just until i start to see the form of the seeds thru the paper towel..if I added too much I'll just add another folded paper towel to the top layer, but the important point is to make sure the paper towels are fairly damp..and then I put the other plate on top.

I stick that next to the vent in my room bcuz seeds only need to be at room temp to germinate..10*deg too low and its too cold...10*deg too high and they'll probably cook!

and after the taproot sticks out about 1/4 of an inch I plant into my jiffy cubes, and place the cubes into the "jiffy dome" with the lid on it for humidity. I stick that next to my heat vent so its constantly just above room temp, and wait...

Nail files? Coffee mugs? Snow? Surround sound amps? Spoons? Paper towels? More paper towels? Jiffy cubes? Jiffy Domes? Think I'll just go and get drunk ...

Get your pot, put in your soil, perlite and whatever else you're gonna' use, pop your seed in about 2mm down, cover, water (lightly) and three to five days later you've got a lovely little seedling peeking out. Just make sure you use decent seeds, keep the soil moist and warm and don't dig up your seeds after two minutes to see if they're growing. You'll be fine.

lol yeah, I dont even do it that way anymore. my last few seeds have pretty much came directly from the plant so they're ready to be buried after 2-3 days of soaking minus the extra stuff ;-)

I put them in a cup full of water for 24 hours. then i poke the surface. the good seeds that will germinate sink to the bottom.

after that i put the seeds that sank into some paper towels (i stack about 3 sheets.) set it on a plate and put a bowl over it (for darkness) and then i put it on top of my computer!

works great!

i use rapid rooters or coco starter plugs. add lukewarm water if needed....

then i put them in propagation trays(which i do keep a little bit of water in there.....nothing exact or precise tho) with the humidity dome and place on a heating mat

guaranteed they all pop within 24-48 hours
