GERMINATION: Paper Towel vs Soak In Cup Method

I have some feminized seeds that I just recieved, I got 3 strains that I got only 1 seed of because of the price, and a couple other strains I got more seeds for.

So I got Distiller Water and Spring Water as I dont know which one would be better.

I need a sure way to germinate these seeds. I want to know which method is better, the paper towel or the soak in cup, AND which water do I use?
THANK YOU

I would use the distilled water. Both ways works, but i like paper towel method. Sometimes I soak the seeds in a 70% water 30% hydrogen peroxide for 24hrs then into the paper towels. But usually all of them germ from just the paper towel method so icant say soaking before actually helps

I find the easiest way for me is to just get a tray like something you'd put leftovers in. I fill it with loose soil, 1 1/2 inch deep leaving some generous headspace. I drop the seeds pointing down in a half inch or so down, than I lightly sprinkle some soil of 'em and give them a small lil pat down, nothing much. sprinkle with water, not soaking but getting it nice and moist and than I cover it with some plastic wrap. have put them on monitors. sometimes I just leave them under the lights in the the grow room. all seeds pop up that I expect to pop up. after they've grown a bit and stabilized and started to work on the first pair of leaves I'll do a smooth lil transplant and they never know they moved.

This method has always worked best for me. I've had less success using the other methods, and never bothered to experiment to figure out why as I know I can always get a nice strong seedling going this way.

I remember being a kid and laying out hundreds of seeds into trays for my grandfather. Wonderful vegetables n such. Those neural pathways were set for me at an early age.

This way is probably seen as lame around here though as its not in the GROWFAWQ, but its easy so I figured I'd post. lol

the best way hands down is a shot glass. put the seeds at the bottom and put a wet cotton ball on top. then when you plant them dig the hole up to your finger nail and drop the seed in and put saran wrap (glad wrap) or whatever you wanna call it on top of the pot. dont seal it so that air cant get in though. just lightly put the glad wrap on top and it should sprout in about 2 days.

well... I just sprouted 5/5 femenized white russians sunday... I like my method as I know EVERYONE has a different way of somewhat germin their seeds... my fridge has a cabinet above it that keeps the temp pretty constant at 85-90f... I put the seeds in a cup of water and put them in the cabinet... a day later, all seeds have sunk and I put them into 5.8 Ph soaked 1x1" Rockwool cubes and put them back into the cabinet with a plastic dome over them with a few holes cut to keep in the humidity... after a day or two, as they sprout, I'll pull'em and stick'em under my floru till they establish them'selves and I stick them under the 400watter. I've even used the paper towels moistened on the cable box and so on... this one just seemed to work best for me in my conditions... I recommend just experimenting with bagseed for a week or so till you find which method works best for you... thats what I've done and so far in the past couple grows, and my first solo grow I've gotten 100% germ rating!

Years ago I had some bagseeds germinate in the wooly-plasticized material under floormats in my truck. a couple of them really shot up to get to the sun. Amazing what can happen in a few days. Was on the passenger side, so I blame them for just throwing the seeds on the floor. lol

Needless to say they weren't allowed to live long.

We had a few sprout up in the woody debris in the back of our work trucks. apparently from getting tossed out windows. Some of those found some life out in the wilderness.

1. Fold 2 pieces of paper towel into a square and wet it.
2. squeeze excess water out of towel
3. Place at the bottom of a small tupperware.
4. insert seeds on top of paper towel.
5. repeat step 2 and place next square on top of seeds
6. Close the tupperware with the lid or plastic wrap.
7. Let the container sit for exactly 3 days on the center rack of your oven. (dry, dark, stable temp)

JUST REMEMBER DON'T PREHEAT YOUR OVEN WITH YOUR CHILDREN IN IT!!!!

I have germed over 200 seeds this way and never had one not grow.
