germinating using cracking. 100% success

i had 10 seeds of ak47 auto flower and after about 10 days of trying to germinate them using a germination chamber and tissue, none germinated.

SO i decided to crack every seed until i heard a measurable crunch/click sound. about 4-6 hours later, 80% germinated with roots coming out and the other 20% germinated the next day.

Now these seeds are growing quite well at the moment, my question is, should i crack them as soon as i get them or do u think this might have some negative/adverse effects on the seed.

im getting some seeds in the next few days and i will early crack a few of them to test this, just wondering what peoples opinions were before i do .

Yea,, whatever this is you're talking about, don't do it lol You can easily damage young seedlings and stunt its growth from the start, which means you may have a bad plant overall in the end. More importantly, you may simply kill your plant before it even sprouts! which is undesirable for expensive seeds..

on the whole, not recommended.

i wouldnt crack them , wait or talking about scarification ?

Seeds with hard coats may need to be scarified - the process where the seed coat is modified in some way so that moisture can enter and germination occurs.

There are several methods of scarification:

Soaking the seeds in hot wate Using a file or sandpaper (one must be careful to not go too deep and damage the embryo inside)

Acid (this can be quite dangerous and you must follow directions carefully!)

The type of scarification will depend on which seeds you are germinating.

iv used scarification before with success , but i hope your just not trying to crack them open...

I agree with the above.as long as the seeds are kept moist and warm, they should pop by themselves.if they dont after 2 weeks & you want to crack them.........
as a side note,I scuff seeds lightly w/ some fine sandpaper before soaking them for 12 hours to remove the waxy coating on the shell.

I always simply put my seeds in the medium that they will grow in, lightly water, cover with a dome and let them sprout the way mother nature intended. its always worked great for me.
