The mold probably is harmless. Can't say much in the way of Diamond Black in particular, never used it, but there is another humic acid supplement from Botanicare I use from time to time, Humega (formerly Humex), which is labeled as a 'Soil Conditioner' that contains humic acid but is actually a liquid humus or essentially microbes in a bottle.

Humic acid is a preferred fungi food, and when it comes down to it that is precisely what organics is about: bacteria, fungus, and the other organisms that cycle the nutrients contained within them (nematodes and protozoa).

The only GO product I use is Alaskan Forest Humus and it is wonderful. It's like a soil food web in a bag.
how often do u add diamond black or any humic acid.. i dont recall it saying on my feed chart ? thx

i will be using there new line wanted to know what everyonw thought of it
Don't know.. you say "new line".. what would that include? be a little more specific...

I myself, am in the middle of trying out the 'General Organics' nutrient line-up as well. I bought the entire box (called the 'GO-BOX' not 'grow box' like u would think)
and it has the following additives and nutrients inside:

Bio-Root
Bio-Weed
Bio-Thrive (Grow)
Bio-Thrive (Bloom)
Bio-Bud (bloom/bud booster - helps plump up those nuggets)
CaMg+
Bio-Marine (cold processed squid)
Diamond Black (liquid humic acids)

This is the first time trying this brand of nutrients out.. and the first time I've ever had a 100% organic garden as well. So I'm pretty anxious to get to harvest time so I can see how using 100% all organics works out.. see how much better the taste is.. as well as everything else.

Some people say its not necessary to flush when using organics.. but, I am a firm believer in flushing out the medium prior to harvesting. I mean, you just never know if there might possibly be any trace elements left behind from the nutrients that you were using. I live (as many of you now know) I live by the motto: "better safe than sorry".. so, I'll always flush my medium out.. rather I'm using 100% organics or not. It's just better to be safe.. rather than spending 9 or more weeks of your life.. waiting for harvest time.. only to have a nasty tasting product once you've gotten it all dried and cured. Personally?? I don't like wasting time.. its time you will/can never get back.

If your not using 100% organics.. you should always flush your medium out prior to harvesting. If you don't want your end product to burn correctly.. if you don't want your end product to taste good.. if you want your product to crackle-&-pop when lighting it.. then sure, don't flush... but if you want your end product to live up to its full potential.. then I highly recommend flushing.. simple as that. ;)

Generally, I will stop feeding my plant(s) 2 weeks prior to when I think the plant(s) will be ready for harvesting..

anyhow, each to their own I suppose.. I'm just trying to help educate the new growers around here. Some people will argue with me until the sky turns red.. about flushing.. but the bottom line is.. is, well.. just re-read what I mentioned at the beginning of this post. If you want your end product to have a chance to live up to its full potential.. then flush (give only water) during the last two weeks prior to harvesting (some people just do one week prior, but again, I would rather be safe than sorry.. so I go with the two-week flush).

If you want your end product to taste like the nutrients you used.. if you want the product to not burn evenly.. if you don't want your end product to burn correctly... then sure, don't flush. That's all I can say..

peace.

The thought of my end product tasting even remotely like what this GO line smells like just made me throw up a little in my mouth.

Once I start flowering, I plan on switching out Bioweed for Biomarine. I don't think I will use diamond black this run.

does anyone have a website that does flat rate shipping for the General Organics line?
greners ships GO It's like $15 for the first gallon, then around $5 for the rest of them. That's to the east coast, if your closer to Cali its cheaper.

I'm Curious about the auto PH claim that comes with the GO line. Has any one ever had any issues (the guy at the 1-800 # told me since its all organic and alive the variances with the ph shouldn't matter) I asked my gro-supply guy and he gave me some new samples of a soil amendment from botanacare called hydrolite... (<---I'm curious about this product as well. it seems to be new enough to not be really reviewed or in the new ('11) hydrofarm catalog.) also, does anyone have any good links that address Ph concerns with soil. Id like to understand more if possible all the research Ive done, its seems the authors kinda just glance over certain things like the fact that all these nutes use buffers or that soil and hydro gardens are completely different...it gets really complicated... also trying to maintain a consistant ph for my water/feed solution i find that certain things (?) are falling out of solution and that seems like im wasteing my money...

Well I am a few days into flowering my GO grown plants from seed and...

don't you just love it when they are all males. :'(

So far they all look pretty manly. I am giving it a few more days before I call it for sure. On the plus side, they are REALLY healthy and I am pretty much sold on the General Organics line for veg so far.

Time to start another batch. *le sigh*
