every article i've read and every news clip i've watched specifically said, "it is not know if the farmers shot at law enforcement, but law enforcement did fire 10 rounds". dude's did have guns but were running away.

They said a value of between $3K-$8K. So, is $3K/plant a reasonable estimate?

There was a recent "big" bust in our county, they nailed a guy who was hired in Mexico to live on site and care for the garden. Over 2,500 plants (something like 2,800). Poor schmuck. No shooting.

This is ridiculous. Not only does it sound like they're not sure the growers even fired at the officers, but this is going to turn into another "example" of how bad and dangerous ALL growers are.

i grew a 5 pound plant once. to say 3000 a pound is reasonable. you have to consider the "value". if i sold 5 pounds of 1/8ths, wow. i could if i know the right people so honestly the plant could be worth a lot. hang-on ...............

5 lbs X (16 ounces x 8 8ths) = 640 x $50 = 32,000 dollars.

damnit, i should have sold 1/8ths.

he did seem somewhat bothered by that. he tried to justify himself. i was thinking about opening the phone book but from the look i saw in his eye i think he's already losing some sleep. i almost felt bad for him for a second. maybe this will change his feelings, at least. :peace:

Cops shooting people for growing pot is sad, but growers who tote guns ( off their own property ) and are ready to shoot people are also giving us all a bad name.

After reading that, this could very well be illegals, who are coming here and bringing a more violent edge to the MJ trade.

Holy shit! I hAvent heard about this until now, as i'm currently in the UK on business and not a home in the bay area.
thats nuts...If he did shoot at the cops i guess its kinda his own fault, but i just hope this isnt another example of the SFPD bein trigger happy.
For such a 'generally' chilled-out area, norcal cops can be horrendously over zealous in their policing, especially close to the end of the month, when theyre trying to get their crime figures up..
Tragic nonetheless.

the filth always inflate the cost or price of the bust ,at least here in oz ,they say ex amounts of elbows ,or oscars ,or grammes if powder ,or pills , i figure they pay ten times what every other fuck does.
Also if you shoot at anyone ,the cops are no different ,look for the reciept ,there is always one???.:peace:

So if there were a national permit allowing the legal cultivation of, say, a dozen plants, and people could grow their own, would that put the big-time growers out of business?

Maybe to an extent. But the fact remains that some people have more money than time ( and know-how ). Those people will always buy instead of grow. That's where we come in
