I'm hoping to get another grow going, I have a garage that sits by it self. 10*20 main area with 9 foot ceiling peaking at 11. I want to grow more tree style plants for this grow as I have the head room. I've been using quantum boards that's are 480 watts similar to the Spider Farm 4000.

Wpuld quantum boards like that be good enough lighting? I know most people try to use stronger LEDs. I've never seen larger grows with QBs like the spider farms. I was also thinking about using double ended hps. I can get 20 of the QBs for 3000 to my door which is pretty good.

Im just nervous about using smaller LEDs for a larger grow as I haven't seen it before. DE HPS would look good but that's some 8+Kwh

If you want to grows trees then go balls deep on the LEDs.
The gavitas are nice they grow great weed no question. 3 bulb changes and your boards would be paid for. Not to mention making it back on HVAC, and watts spent . Also with your head room you'll lose 3ft using the DE fixtures tor an even spread and to avoid burning. The QB the plants can grow closer to and the QB has a much lower profile so it can be mounted nearer your ceiling.

Thats what I was expecting to hear, I've worked under the gravitas, but we are talking 6-8k on just lights. My friend has the double ended 1000 which I can use, is why I was considering them. Also the ceiling forms a point at the zero line from the walls giving me another 2 feet (1 effectively) to nestle the lights up a bit more.

The quantum boards I was looking at were https://app.alibaba.com/dynamiclink?touchId=62416601432&type=product&schema=enalibaba://detail?id=62416601432&ck=share_detail&ck=share_detail&shareScene=buyer
and they do 20 of them for 3k. I expected them to be under powered from what I need, just disappointed.

as a side note I'm thinking about air conditioning. I'm a contractor as a job is installing a minisplit super hard. And will the lines still need to be charged properly by a HVAC tech. the flower room is going to be 20*10 and the other room is similar sized. was thinking about a 2 ton ac with 2 zones and a window unit installed in the wall at 10000btu. 1 zone off the minisplit for the flower, 1 off the minisplit for the veg, and an extra 10000btu in the flower room. or would I be better off with a 3ton?

I read a thread with you and rufus advising someone else and they pointed out how much heat builds up in a garage even after installation

I'm unable to answer growing questions as I'm a noob, but things mechanical I know, and the last project I was involved with had a mini-split, and AC guy needed to evac & charge. And bigger is always better.

I grow in garage pretty much same size with QBs fine. Pull upto 12 elbows on a good harvest.
