Go to a super walmart(assuming they are all the same which I'm sure they are!).. buy mosquito dunks found in the garden area($10 for 6 "dunks"), then go to the area called "paper goods and chemicals", find some fly strips for another $2.

Solved my issue in a week, search for "mosquito dunks" for other discussions on what exactly to do. But basically you smash a mosquito dunk, mix it with water, feed it to your plants. And hang a few fly strips in your area to catch the flying ones.

For fungus gnats, put 1/2-1" sand on the soil, + sticky traps above the soil to catch the adults, although it's the larvae in the soil that are really doing the damage. No Pest Strips work well, too, plus products like AzaMax, Azatin, SM-90, Gnatrol, Doc's Neem Pest Soap (or just neem oil mixed with water and a bit of liquid soap). Apply a soil drench to target the larvae and soak the entire root ball, plus spray the undersides and tops of the leaves, since the adults like to hang out on the lower foliage (they're weak fliers).
