full room?

Hello I am Hope! A friend and I plan to use the third room at our place to grow. All I am finding is people doing it in a cabinet or something.

My plan is to block off the window and seal under the door to keep out light. We want to hang 4 1000w lights from above and some smaller lights on the floor to help get the light all around. And have some fans to help air flow.

We want to use rockwool to grow it in as well. I know there is Info missing. But, I hope this will give the basics as to our plan.

My question is. Can I make this work with some changes? If so what changes will we need to make?

Also in a large room like that will we need intake fans?

One more thing. We plan to use the closet as our cloning room .. should we keep that door closed or open or does it matter?


Thank you all for your time. Also... please do not be offended if you give me an answer and I keep wanting answers from others... I just want to get a lot of answers to take in to account.t when we make our blue prints.

I'm using a 400 cfm inline fan to cool 2 600 hoods and its workin good for me. I think the whole idea is to keep everything cool. You should also think about smell control. another inline fan with a phresh filter would help alot. If the closet is gonna be the cloning room, I would also make it my veg room. I would think about setting up some sort of perpetual grow. I curently have 2 rooms. Both are 8X7. One for flower and one for veg and clones. I have 6 at all times in my veg/clone room and 4 flowering.

I have to admit. I am some what lost right now. I am going to try to be active on her to learn terms and stuff. But thanks for the help... what is a veg room?


As for smell control.... does it stink or something? Or does smell effect the grow?

it's a smaller room for your plants vegetative growth with lights on 18/6,20/4 or whatever you choose to use separate from your flower room that is at 12/12. With 4 1000w lights you are going to need some air cooled hoods or cool tubes or it will get insanely hot fast. I would do a 500 or so cfm fan pulling cool air through the ducting and 2 hoods and out of the room or house. I would also get a good fan/ carbon filter combos to take care of the odor. Are you going to do a flood and drain system? Keep your cloning/ veg room separate. If the lights are on and the door is open but your flowering lights are off, you plants will hermaphodite. Do some research or pm me and I'll try to help where I can!

A veg room is where your plants sit and grow without flowering. They are on a 24/0 to 18/6 light schedule and remain there until you want to put them into flowering.

Sounds like you have some room there to grow. Which is awesome. Do as much reading as you can as the.more info you have the better off you will be.

4 - 1000 matters are going to throw some heat. You will want ducting leaving the room and fresh air being pulled in. Rooms like that you sometimes see air conditioners in to help with the cooling. Sometimes you also see dehumidifiers aswell.

If you want and are serious about growing draw up you blue prints and post them on here along with what supplies you think you will need. I will take a look and try to help you out with just about everything I can. Other I am sure will also.

4000 watts is going to be hot. how are you going to cool it? How big is the room?
you cant leave the clone room door open. the light schedules are different. Before you dump $1000s in the toilet you need to grow one plant. while smoking it, decide how you are going to run 4kw in your bedroom.
4kw @120 is 36amp. You got 36amps available in there? or at 240 its half that. but do you have 240 in your bedroom?
You want to use rockwool huh? you gonna just lay it on the floor? ebb and flow? nft? top drip?

So a window unit in the room would be good? We have central air but do not want to pump that full blast and make the other rooms an ice cube

We know we have a lot of studying and learning to go.


On an in related note... can you close.e a clone? Or is that the reason you need mother plants?

I am on a phone right now... I hate phones... I. Getting a new PC in about 3 weeks. At that point I will be more active and wl be taking you up on the PM offer. Lol

your going to need 2 to 3 portable ac units or one big window unit and you will have to air cool your lights
i am running 5x1000k 8 inch raptors
i have 2 8inch can fans one on 2 lights one on 3 lights
i have 3x 13000 btu portable ac units
i have to run the lights at night i am in texas
my room stays at 70 and will spike to 75 76 during 100+ degree days, but that because its still 90 at midnight

big window unit like 25000 btu, you will need an electrician to run a special plug for that tho

Where I live it ranges fro. 0- to 100+ lol. But yeah. We are deciding what we want to do to keep it cool right now.

to run a 5k grow op i have 2 other bed rooms with 6x400 watt lights 3 in each, for my mothers and veg, and a 8 bulb 4foot t5 for cuts.....

4k watts. You need a stand alone ac like a minisplit. A windiw ac won't cut it. Expect a 1000+ ac bill.

I understand that. And not liking someone being a dick to me does mot mean I am not being humble.

I know the math and the ideal of it all. I am just trying to learn the practal applacation.

And we are not going to even start foe about 5 more months. So it is not like I am going to rush out tomarow and start buying stuff.

Growing is fun but there is a science to it (if you want there to be). Its not like growing tomatoes plants its more like growing corn. Weird analogy I know but its true.
Most people don't know this but corn isn't a vegetable or a fruit. Its considered a starch. The first corn was actually only at largest 3" long. Over the years it has been genetically modified to the size that it is.
There is a underground cave that they experiment with to make corn bigger and increase yields. Funny that this cave has more security then the federal reserve banks. More useless knowledge I'm sorry.

Growing can be really difficult for some people. All strains grow differently, some require more attention then others and so on.

Grows that large you will run into problems and you will have to be able to solve the problem in a time frame otherwise it could kill or slow the growth of the plant or even decrease yields. Especially if you have never grown before. Since I have been growing i have read books on it ( I hate to read by the way) and watched countless hours of videos. I have learned a load of stuff and have never used some of the information.

Do you know what style you would like to grow with? Soil, Hydro, Aero? What type of system do you want to use?

If you dont mind me asking what is your budget for your grow room. Do you have the funds to purchase everything needed and sustain everything that you will need during your grows.

Im not being smart im just asking to make sure you realize what you are getting into with a grow that large. I am not saying you can not do it. I am just saying there is a load to take into consideration. I dont want to see someone spend a shit ton of money on supplies and upgrades for there room and not be able to sustain the room the way that it needs to be.

Like I said if you are truly serious about building this room and want help. I will make sure to help in any way that I can. And help you trouble shoot your grow room. That is not a problem. You will need some help if you have never done an indoor grow before.

It really isnt that hard its pretty much just maintenance and being able to sustain the room to where it needs to be and to keep your plants happy. They don't tailor to you you have to tailor to them. Once you have your room set to where it needs to be it is a load easier from there. Just have to make sure you room is set up right and then everything else you will have to learn when the time comes. Like I said I will subscribe and try to answer your questions as you have them.

a proper 4k budroom with all the supporting equipment and veg room will easily cost $10,000 once you hire an eletrician and an a/c guy. then it will be at least 5 months to get usable bud from seeds. it took me about 4 crops before I figured out how much I really needed to learn to get good at this stuff. you have an incredible amount of research to do, the necessary knowledge to operate a 4k with proficiency goes way beyond the scope of a thread like this....

First of all. I found the corn stuff intresting. Secondly... we do not plan to just start our with a big grow. We want to try 4 diffrent plants in the closet that we want to be our veg room when we expand. From that we plan to learn the ropes and get at least one good mother plant. We want to find some strains that grow well for us. But also strains that are good stuff. Maybe some haze or something. At that point we want to stay I'm the closet as long as we can then move out to the room for the flower room. We will be able to afford the cost of it by the time that we get to that point. That is the reason it will be about 5 months before we start. We want to learn as much as we can hands off first..
But we also want to get our money in oder.


I am really sorry if I missed Amy questions and for the spelling/framer of this. I really can not use a phone at all... i am a computer geek and my PC died... so in till I get my new one at the end of the month I am on a phone

Yes. The money is something that will not mean as much by the time we get to that point. We have the funds.. or will. We have money coming our way.

I still do not know why the room will be so hot... everything I read says that LED lights do not get very hot... they just coat an arm and a leg.

I'm not sure this is true. 3,200.00 max and that's top of the line gear.
