Full kit grow box, tell me what you think?

Hey guys,

Let's say someone bought a full grow box like this: fullbloomhydroponics.net/solaris/

They can grow 16 plants at once in a very small environment with only 250w HPS.

In term of money (except the price of the box), i'd like to know. For a beginner, how much will it cost for 1 grow...

- nutrients
- electricity

I know that for the first grow, it will cost more because we'll have to use seeds but after that it's all going to be fully automated with clones (as you can see in the pictures from the site).

What I wanna calculate basically, is how much will it cost for a beginner PER GRAM to grow his own weed, after deductions...

I'd like to aim for 1,00$/g if possible after deductions!

Thanks in advance,
Asphalte :)

it seems a nice package, only I have two remarks:
- the price is really expensive, you'd rather buy a small grow tent package (about the same size, but like 6-7 times cheaper)
- eleven plants in such a small environment is a lot, I would rather aim for 4

Given that you have already bought it, gongratz because I understand why you bought that thing, it's really fancy :D
but seriously, aim for less plants

got to agree cool looking box but to do 16 in there youd have to flower cuts straight away youd need single buds/lollypops like a nini sea of green and the results might not be what your expecting, as halloweener says youd have to go a lot less, id say as a mother/clone cab its great but theres a lot of better cheaper set ups, as for how much a run costs google grow room calculator and youll get a few options come up with all variables ie light schedules size of lights, fans, and ducting leangths all sorts of things that effect a run cost good luck

But still, do you think as a beginner, it could be "easy" to get about 1$/g of smokable cannabis..?

Like, after all recurring expenses (electricity, fem seeds, nutrients, water), how much per gram would it cost on average? Because right now, as a street dealer, I can get my cannabis for 3.05$/gram, and still it's not THAT cheap where I live because an ounce of good weed sells for around 140$.

I'm looking to maximize my profits to the max! If an ounce costs me 28$ to make, damn that's a hell of a lot of profits!

buy a bloombox from bc northernlights, or look it up. veg on 1 side bloom on the other and you get at least a QP from the bloomside every harvest. pluss they have 24 hour customer service and it comes with nutrients and all you need is seeds, clones n water...i bought 1 a year ago,, id been growing ebb n flow for 6 years,,since i got the bloombox ive changed everything over to DWC.. pluss it paid for itself in 4 harvests

woody is spot on, your first run or two will be touch and go, especialy after buying all the kit etc ,, but once youve got all you need and most importantly you can get your growing skills honed in, it then pays plenty, say like my bro hes very little experience and he took just over 18oz (zips i think you say) of 5 girls which i believe is very resonable and all in was about 3-400 for electric/feeds/soil etc, around here thats about 3600 at 200per oz so minus the 3-400 gives you 32000 or so, im uk so deal pounds but the principle is the same, thats just over 500g under a 600w light so not quite the gram per watt but still a good effort, he had problems that we had to get over aswell,
but dont go into it thinking that i will get this and that, theres loads to learn, then theres strains of plants growing styles etc the list goes on, generally though if you take to it it defo will pay, just read and read and read up on growing and dont be afraid to ask on here theres some really cool people who like to help good luck
But still, do you think as a beginner, it could be "easy" to get about 1$/g of smokable cannabis..?

I grow an autoflower in a 2x2x4' tall space. It produces between 100g and 180g.

$10 - seed
$2 - soil
$1 - nutrients
$25 - water
$25 - electricity

That's .45 cents per gram.

If money is important, you don't need to spend that much on a "kit" to get started. Go with a soil container grow. No need for marked-up "boutique" nutrients. Get some Jack's Classic or Grow More Sea Grow. You can mix a good "all purpose" nutrient to something higher in PK (like AK MorBloom) to get ratios used in those "line up" products.

If you're only growing to supply yourself, that's all you need. If your goal is cash crop, hydro makes sense for its efficiency handling a dozen plants easier than individual soil containers. But, you'll want to do full-scale hydro, not a mini thing like that kit.

Even with one soil grow there will be initial expenses. $25 for Grow More Sea Grow (or Jack's Classic), but it will be enough for 2-3 years. Lights. If you're intending a small-space grow (like that kit implies), all you need are those Cree LED replacement lightbulbs sold at Home Depot. (<<link). A tent or DIY cabinet. PH pen with calibration and storage solutions. Fan(s). Maybe a filter.

For the price of that kit you could be well into a 4x4 tent with Area51 LEDs. Just a little more for fan and filter. The amount you'd produce from that would be vastly larger than the kit.

Yeah I understand. Thank you very much brother!

Anyways, how come your nutrients are cheaper than your water..? xd

I use RO water. It's 25 cents per gallon from the dispensing machine. I water every other day for 100 days. So, that's 50 waterings at 25 cents each. That's $12.50. (I doubled it to count the cost of going to the machine once a week. I could install an RO unit at home, but I think it would come out about the same cost after amortizing the $300, filter replacement, etc.).

The nutrients (Grow More Sea Grow) is $55 for 5lbs of All Purpose and 5lbs of Flower & Bloom (plus 2lbs of Hawaiian Bloom & Bud). Using 1/2 tsp per gallon, it comes out to about 4 cents per feeding.

So, it just comes out that way. The nature of math. It doesn't lie. :) I pay a little more because I supplement with Liquid Karma, and calmag, some RhizoBlast in seedling through early veg, and AK Kelp, a little molasses.

Back to your question why the nutes cost less than water. More cynical people would say you're paying for advertising (predatory) hype when buying boutique "line ups." I'm more generous and would say you're paying for ease of use. An "experience." Something explainable like fantasy football. "Line ups" come in bottles of liquid. So, you're paying for the transport and storage (shelf space) of water. You're still paying $25 for water (unless you're fortunate enough to use tap water, in which case it might be $5). Just paying more for fertilizer.

Fertilizer is just "salts." Elements of the periodic table. There are people who buy 20-50lb bags of that stuff and mix their own NPK ratios. If you think my $1 per grow is impressive, those guys do it for about 5 cents. :)

I like the convenience of pre-mixed nutrients. But, I agree with the DIY "salts" people that the boutique "line up" stuff isn't worth the expense. If I were a cash-crop grower I might have a different opinion. If expensive products gave me 30 more grams, that might be worth the additional $10. Especially if I grew a dozen plants at a time. I just grow for myself and friends.

Either way, you can never know if the more glamorous products are "worth it" without experiencing the basics. If you started with high-end products, I'd encourage you to try a basic dry fertilizer at some point. Since you said cost per gram is important to you, you might want to start that way first.
