AK-48 two plant grow. (femd)

planted seeds: 8/9/10

Grow box: 2x2x5 (home built. wood and pvc)

im using one exhaust fan that keeps temps at 80f on low. air is vented to attick. installed opening in attick to avoid mold.

im strarting out with one 26w 6500k cfl per plant adding more cfls as needed. come september i will invest in a 150w hps. after this first grow i will buy another 150 w but replace the bulbs with 150w ceramic metal halide bulbs. (has more usable light than MH and HPS)

ive read a lot of the user: 'riddleme' he has done his own expierament to see what works and what doesnt. im gonna try and follow his advice.
Here is the link to one of his threads: https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/277820-noob-advice.html (first 34 pages)

ANYONE CAN POST A COMMENT. IM UP FOR ADVICE AND SCRUTINY ALIKE!

nothing yet. although yesturday a small single root poked out of the soil. i added a little dirt to it and a tiny bit of water. the had actually turned into a hook shape (pointing at the ground) within the hour b/f i added more dirt.

AS SOON AS I SEE GROWTH I WILL BE UPDATING DAILY.

Hey man get thoughs out of the light they will pop quicker. Put them in a dark place like a linen closet and put a plate over the tops of the cups. They will pop just be patient sometimes seeds take longer then others. They should pop with in the next 2 days.

who said a plant couldnt grow upside down? I have to start over on my seeds. ive never tried to start seeds in the soil. one of the seeds actually grew upside down. i buried the root once (sticking out of dirt) and today its sticking back out. i dug the seed out and the shell was off of the leaves and the leaves had browned up a bit. i turned her the right way and re-planted her. i dont know if shes gonna make it but im giving her another chance! i already got two more seed sitting in a wet paper towl.

i was told the plant will fix its self. not in my case of course.lol!

It is best to be patient and let the plan grow by itself when it is a seedling. It is extremely easy to kill the seedling if you start messing with it. These plants have had seeds dropping to the ground for thousands if not millions of years. There was no need for humans to go through there and purposely switch the orientation of the seed in the soil, or covering it up with more soil. Whatever germ method you choose, you just have to let the plant do what it does.

A couple of years ago I killed a new seedling because it started poking up through the ground in one day. I thought that "this is too soon", so I put a little soil over the seedling. It died. What I have learned is that these particular white widow seeds do pop through the soil faster than other strains.

I suggest you relax and let the plant do it's thing.

i completly understand. if i wouldnt have interveined the seedling would have deff died. the first 2 round leaves were almost rotted and was straight downwards. i always found it easier to start in a paper towl and plant it when the root pops out the seed... Thanks for your comment. +rep for you!

when i undug the seedling the first 2 leaves were getting ready to rot. i replanted it right side up. it seemed to be in a dormant state. the 2 leaves were real brown and stuck together. about 30 min ago i carfully unglued the 2 leaves and right underneath them were two very tiny leaves. it mite make it through!

i think my seedling is gonna make it. the first two round leaves are already almost dead. the 2 tiny pot leaves are slowly getting bigger.. im glad i diddnt listen to everybody on here. they told me to let the plant be and it would fix itself... ya right. my seedling would have been dead yesturday....i love the advice on here but sometimes you gotta go with your gut..i have named her Sophie. i derived this name from the word Sopravvissuto wich is Italien for Survivor. she is deff. a survivor. started her world upside down.i will post pics tommorow!! ALSO! the two seeds in the paper towl have both sprouted a root.. i will hopefully be planting them tommorow!!

you should start your seeds in some moist paper towel in the dark thats usually a quick way to get them to root. Or in a little glass of water until they sink hen you know they've cracked. I usually get germination within the same day with the seeds i get from nirvana seed shop and the paper towel technique. Then transplant them into the soil and let them be like mike says its all about patience my friend. good luck on the grow much peace.

my seedling that diddnt have a chance is recovering i have it in fox farm soil. as you can see, the two round leaves are almost dead already. iknow thats why its growing slow. i have a feeling when the two green leaves get bigger it will start growing faster.

my 2 papertowl seeds have been in dirt for a couple days now. one of them has made it to the soil surface but still has the shell on it.....

hey some advice when the seed cracks plant it with the crack down. This is the tap root which will grow down while pushing the seed husk up. It should only be planted about 1/4 inch into the soil. Never plant it with the crack up.
