Fross T Nuggs' 4k Multi-Strain Coco DTW Grow

Hello folks, starting up a journal for the grow show. I do a lot of reading here, rarely posting. This is my 3rd grow and I've learned a lot this run so far (mostly by doing a lot of wrong but anyhow).

Here's some shots from the last run of Chem Dawg

I didn't yield so well on that one. Won't get into specifics there lol the past is the past. But the smoke was amazing quality. That was a 2k grow.

The current setup:

11'x9' garage partition.
4k HPS in Magnum XXXL hoods 6" running 240v
I'm air cooling the hoods and the room is cooled with winter air
Botanicare Cocogro in 3 and 5 gallon pots
GH Nutes running The Recipe by Rezdog + Drip Clean.. Weekly AACT

Strains are:

Neville's Abusive Wreck
Chem Dawg
Sweet Tooth
Swayze Express (Neville's x Sweet Tooth)
Wifi

And my seed ladies are LA Ultra x Chem 4 x Alien OG x Banana Kush. The seeds are bred by a dispensary in Denver. I couldn't find anything about them online just had these on hand to work with. Ended with 10 fem of 20 seeds. One seed popped two ladies, so I guess 11 ladies lol.

Everything is 2 months vegging. Seeds 2 months from sprout.

Upskirt shots

The garden

Third pic is one of my seed ladies. A few of the seeds have this trait actually. \ I've only seen it on one other person's journal and the flowering plant put out buds where that extra leafset is.
The last pic shows my plan for height control. I'm well aware I vegged too long lol.

I was watering 3x a day before Christmas and then had a timer mishap while I was on vacation. No water for 3 days killed 2 huge Wifi girls and severely stunted 4 of my seeds.
I think my only option was to give them time to recover. Rather have plants too big for my area than have stunted ladies. I figure I'll do some thinning after stretch is almost done. Today is day 2 of flower. Things will be getting frosty here very soon, stay tuned!

Anyone feel free to comment, post, drop advice. Anything helpful is appreciated.

Hey fross t nuggs -
Garden looking good. Massive girls!

I just switched over to coco myself and I am having some issues getting used to it. But I love coco it's awesome.

Question for ya what do you run your ec at?

Looking forward to seeing those huge ladies flower.

DTW only way to do Coco, and your doing really well. takes time. extra perlite I noticed boosts yields a bit and helps balance ph between floods- beautiful though :)

Hey thanks for stopping by and the compliment.

I have been running my ec anywhere from .8 to 1.4. But it will probably be slightly different with different nutes. What are you using? What issues are you having?

I definitely agree. Some guys getting away with no run off hehe not me. I have enough issues as it is. I really appreciate the kind words. Growing from seed is the real process. Coco seems less painful in veg though lol.

I did try 50/50 coco/perlite on the last run. Idk if I prefer with or without, the grows are much different. Maybe next run I'll try both.

Thanks for stopping by.

Day 10

First frost lol.

And the top. I have 4 girls that have been stacking since day 1. They haven't stetched a whole lot at all. These are the same girls with the extra leafset. I'm hoping this will be Chem 4 pheno. Anybody grown out Chem 4?

The rest of the girls just started stacking calyxes yesterday.

Now these garden shots are deceiving. I moved everything around and moved the seed girls to the outside and raised them a bit. This got light to the whole plants pretty well since they weren't trained at all.

I think it increases my canopy a little bit too training everything stadium style.

I got rid of 2 girls. LST'ing everything. So they've put in some work but not like the pictures look like lol.

Half garden. The Sweet Tooth in the middle just wouldnt fit anywhere else and get good light. Everything is getting pretty good light but she had so much side growth that could never reach the canopy. Now she's getting the most coverage in the garden.

I went though the undergrowth yesterday and took a lot of stragglers. Left a bit behind for later.
We'll see how everything fills out.

I think the recommended ratio would depend on the kind of perlite and the kind of Coco you are using. Some kinds of cocos fiber strands are more coarse than others, and those are usually the kinds you see ph/toxicity issues. For the rougher kind of Coco (you can literally feel the difference) using the smaller/finer perlite at 25-35% perlite in the mix will help allow enough water and air flow to maintain the balance easier (any more and your going to have to flood more often because the extra perlite will cause thermal transpiration within the media. For the finer Coco (like the sunshine Coco mix) using larger perlite will help break it up (finer coco fibers mesh and bind together like a matt very easily and can reduce air flow and trap salts and minerals. Gas transfer rates stay fairly even at about 15-20% perlite in the mix, and if the ph of your runoff is consistantly coming off a bit low, add another 5-10% and should Help- nothing wrong with adding a bit of gypsum, or dolomite lime if you already have plants in there.
Micro biotic life Thrives in Coco if you have the correct nutrients and micro nutrients flowing through. anyways.... yes- you are very welcome, you ar edoing really good :)
