from scratch

aye guys. im doing my first grow. its bagseed just cuz well, i don't wanna fuck shit up if you know what i mean on the real deal. so i had about 30 seeds or so just of bagseed i had collected over some time.

i tried 3 different germination methods.

1. damp paper towel in a plastic bag
2. damp wash cloth on a plate
3. straight to the soil with 24 hr light and moist soil-MG

so far it only looks like the paper towel method is working for me. i've gotten 7/10 to germ from that. it looks like some are cracking with the cloth and none of cracked or anything with the soil.

so anyways, my question is... when u plant a seed that has a little root poppin out, do you plant it facing down or up? or does this even matter? also, how long would i have to wait to expect a sprout of some kind assuming i planted 1/4 inch deep.

anyone got an answer for this? i wanna hurry and plant before i go to bed haha. thanks in advanced.

either way up or down the plant will sprout many will say up many will say down try what works best for you bro. Me personally have better results down.

lol another question... do you put light on the seed even if it's under the soil? if so i was thinking maybe 18/6?

they will/should pop out without light, i start mine in jump start pellets witha little fluro in humidity dome....

I'm a big fan of paper towel method. I put them in root down, but it doesnt really matter it might take an extra day or 2 if its upside down. No you dont need light till they sprout. I would say between 1 to 5 days and you should see something depending on how much they have sprouted when you put them in dirt.
