Yep I've used Fox Farm nutes I have the whole line, and yep I've used the happy frog ocean forest with it. The nutes work good. If I was going to buy the FF nutes I'd buy the hydroponic FF nutes there buffered.

holy shit that is one long ass sentence.

alot of people have had great sucess with fox farm products, hence why they are one of the biggest names out there in Marijuanna horticulture.

I use ff and love it! I'm not a big fan of Ocean forest. Ocean forest tends to be too hot for some plants. Be sure to flush it before you use it. I do like the ff soil and mix it with humbolt. Use the big three big, grow and tiger. Plus try open seseam, beastie bud and chaching. Works wonders and isn't ungodly expensive.

Be careful with of, I had a bad fungus Knat infestation because of it
been using OF for some time now and never had a problem with gnats. Theres alot of places a bag of soil can pick up bugs on its journey to your house. Im pretty sure FF works really hard to keep thier products free of bugs, this is one reason i use them as i have picked up the ole fungus gnats before and it was not a fun party.

i wouldnt flush your OF soil, just mix it with some pro mix for seedlings

It should be fine. If you are really concerned about it, put the dirt in a plastic tote and keep it sealed. I didn't have knats until this fall but I know the source. It was from a clone from another grower not my soil. Just keep things clean and invest in some neem or mighty wash. I takes a little bit of effort but knats aren't the worst bug out there.

You can layer your pots. It's what I do as a bug prevention method.
bottom of the pot gets a layer of perlite 1-2" deep and a 1-2" layer on top your soil.
your soil is incapsulated between the two layers. The top layer also help with evatoration, keeping your soil moist for longer.
the white perlite layer on top your soil gives your plants a professional look.

Good idea! I would not have thought of that.

ive been hearing more talk about bugs in FF soil

i dont think its FF fault it is probably from improper storage before its sold but its just one more reason i dont like using soil

nothing for the little beasties to infiltrate in hydroponics at least not that is sitting around a store waiting for them

about the nutes questions that all sounds good to me
i dont use FF myself but i have tons of experience with Big Bud and i can say it rocks without any reservation

I like Ocean Forest as a growing medium but I would rather use Sensi Grow and Bloom instead of Grow Big and Tiger Bloom so you don't have to worry about a calcium supplement... And the new pH perfect Sensi Grow and Bloom have amino acids, a wetting agent, and humic/fulvic acids

You might think of trying a completely soil-less mix like Sunshine #4. That's what I use if I want to do a "soil" grow but keep the benefits of hydroponics. Since there's no nutrients in the soil to begin with that way, you can just run hydro nutes like you normally would. Only difference is you need to keep an eye on ppms by getting a little run-off to make sure you're not getting build-up in the media.

Surprised more folks arent chimming in on this. The first few grows with the complete FF lineup I noticed calmag def in weeks 5-7 and had to supplement early to correct this.I also got tired of adding extra perlite & lime. Ive since switched to Roots Organics for my soil but still use the FF linup with much better results.I get knats in both. I read lots of post of peeps who are happy with FFOF it and works for them but just keep an eye out.
