Forcing to flower at week 3 from seed

Hi so I’m growing 2 outdoor plants one auto and one feminised, due to time restrictions I have to flip the feminised one at week 3/4 is this possible and will it have any defects?

I can post photos tomorrow, the plant is being lst, is around 16cm tall and has got 6 new nodes coming out.

It has to mature first in order to flower, ~ 40 days old or so

Cannabis phyllotaxy gives you information on sexual maturity, not alternating is immature and alternating is mature.



Look for pistils (white wisps) in females once you begin to see alternating nodes. Best of luck on your grow

I’m sorry what?

So you’re saying when you grow 12/12 from seed it vegs for 40 days before it flowers lol.

These plants were only 23 days from sprout when I put them into flower..........3 of them (2 were male) produced 19.5 oz. dry.

Yeah I’ve read that if I switch it to 12/12 it can force it into flower

wow those look great mine isn’t so big the weather hasn’t been the best over here unfortunately.

I’ve read that you can force flip them into flower through a 12/12 light schedule I know it may not be as big of a harvest but I only have limited time

I have also got an auto growing (last photo) my biggest node is being blocked by a fan leaf is it best to remove this leaf I can’t really move it out the way

You can force them to flower and I would remove the fan leaf on the auto. Do you have another space for the auto? It’s not going to do as good under 12/12

You are correct.

My comment was not aimed at you.

it was to the guy I quoted when he said it needed 40 days of veg before it could be switched to 12/12.

I’m still new to this so have never tried but 12/12 apparently forces it to flower so I bring my plant inside after 12 hours of light and put it in a dark room

The auto I just leave out all day and bring inside at night I try to get it as much light as possible I don’t have to worry about that one as it should be ready to flower within my time limit. Also about removing the fan leaf I’ve seen a couple methods should I just get a pare of sizers and cut it off from the base or pluck it off?

You technically should probably use sterilized scissors or razor blade but I would just pluck it if it was me

Thanks mate I might try that I think it’s gotten long enough to the point where I can pull it back so it’s not covering anything which I’m very relieved about, I know this is problem a hard question to answer but with the photoperiod plant do you think I can get a fair harvest if I flip it to flower soon if the streach period doubles the size should I be able to get some fairly nice buds off it?

You can't force a plant to flower before it's sexually mature. Sexual maturity happens at differing times depending on the plant. The easiest way to do this is grow 12/12 from seed. The instant it's mature enough to produce the auxins required for flowering it will. That's what the alternating nodes on a plant tell you as well.

You probably won’t get a ton maybe a half ounce or ounce, it’s going to be a pain in the butt bringing them in and out. I did it once, try and move it at the same time every day

You can flip that plant to 12/12. It will flower sooner than if you left it under normal daylight hours and there will be no defects.

This plant was switched to 12/12 at around 2 weeks or so. One gallon pot, soil, and yielded around 2 ounces dried. It's going to be strain dependent as to how well a small plant will yield when flipped to 12/12 after just a few weeks or 12/12 from seed.

If you flip to 12/12 and force flower, outdoors
You have to bring it in to darkness every day till finished which is a huge PITA

Just because it goes to flower in the current light hours in the Northern Hemisphere it will switch back to veg and never finish if not given 12 hours of darkness
