Forced to move inside.

Okay my past 3 outdoor grows this year have been shot to hell, my toddler nephew found my first one and dumped the soil out, and this storm that has been around ALL week now and doesnt seem to be moving any time soon, has killed off two of my plants by fatality... AKA mother nature likes to blow my shit over all the time >:[

So i had no choice as to move them inside, now i know i can wait for the storm to blow over and continue potting outside, but its definately killing my time, and it is the wrong time of year to be trying to start a grow so late in spring. So i started a little closet grow space, you know just to try things out.
I have over 13 seeds but i am only using 2 of my plants for testing it out. Its not very big, just 1' x 2' and like 2.5' tall

I am using an incandescent 60w bulb (I know its a very bad choice, but i have no other sockets and no other bulbs, nor the money right now. But like i said, this is just a test.)

There currently is no top on my little "box" im not sure if i want one, it is in my closet and the bottom of my shirts seem to close it up enough, but lets in just a little fresh air. Right now, i am looking for a PC fan or a small ocelator to get air flow right now, i dont think i will bother with an exhaust at the top cause heat rises, and will probably dicepate into my room, i just want one blowing towards my plants and circulating through the box.

Anyway, i just posted this up to get some helpful feedback, I know its the farthest from a good grow box, but i am on a very tight budget, so if anyone knows any cheap (or possibly free) ways of making this box just a tad better i would be most grateful.

So i will be updating my progress throught my girls life, im not sure what im fully gonna do though, I may just use the box for vegitation, and move them outside or use the box for the whole thing.

Get a compact fluerescent bulb, they work many times better.
I recomend 36w or higher, Soft white (blue) for veg and daylight (red) for bloom.
You can also mix em up but there
Should be more blues in veg & vice versa.
They are dead cheap, incandescents sucks ass but you can aswell use it if you want. 60w is like 15w fluor.
buy the best bulb u can find & replase that shit (or buy another socket togo with bulb). Blue one.
your the boss, boss
are you growing from seed?

Yeah, I need to get ahold of a CFL, but tonight i just started on creating a new box. It is made out of a speaker box that holds 2 15" speaksers. It is about 4'.5-5' tall and looks like it could hold about 2 plants. I am using 2 20w flourescent bulbs, one is daylight for a fact, but the other one looks like it has a redder glow than the other one, so im not sure what that one is, maybe its just cause its older.

Anyway, i got the lighting in and my Intake fans. I am using the dual fans out of the back of an xbox 360 (It red ringed and i had no warranty, so bleh you fanboys.. besides ps3 is better :] )
and when it is sealed up it seems like it gets good air curculation. I have a hole in the top of the box in order for hot air to escape but it doesnt seem like it gets hot at all in there. I also have 2 holes at the bottom of the box, and i don't know what i am going to do with them, i may close them up in order to get a straight flow from the fans to the top or close up the top cause i dont want light shining through and unveiling my grow.

Im not sure, i may put a black cloth over the exhaust to block the light.

Anywho, here are pics of the work in progress.

The intake fan.

Another shot from the outside.

The box with the lights and fan minus speakers.

My working space.

All sealed up.

Now, im definately not done yet. Still have a few finishing touches to put in like covering the walls with either A. Aluminum or B. This one plastic material which a friend told me reflects well enough to put on my walls without burning my plant up.

Well anyway, this is it right now, im open to all suggestions on how to make this better, but note: Im not planning on making any larg cosmetic changes, this is a stealth grow, and i would like to keep it that way :]

Nice. I like the covert. If you have visitors you can
just play some music to them :)
Small wattage Cfl's dont put out much
heat, the fans should renew the air
for the plants to breathe. Humans
also grow better with a window or
two open.
How are those dual-fans, do they blow the same way?
I would have fans blow out
at the top, current hole should work fine with a hole/holes @ bottom 2xbigger than da radius of dee fans, thats a passive intake,
as straight a (unobstructed) line as you can (airflow is better that way).

is that white poly-plastic? that is better than alumin, 80% reflection i think.

do you have a humidity dome for your seedlings?

Yeah, im trying to get fans to blow out, i was trying to find more PC fans but i can't seem to get ahold of any, and im not gettin payed til next weekend.

Yes, the fans both blow the same way and what do you mean by humidity dome? Like a greenhouse?

I guess i could put saran over my plants to hold in the moisture, maybe put a cup o' water in there.

And with the plastic, im not sure, its a clear plastic sheeting, but not 100% clear, it sorta has a white plasticy tint to it, and when i shine light on it it sorta reflects too, but i think it will be better when its in the box.

Oh and for the thing about the hole being 2x bigger, if you look at the top-down pic you can see two cups without bottoms, for the air to push through when the speakers bump, could i put a fan at the end of one of those? or would your scenario work better?

Almost done with the plastic lining, that white poly shit, are you basically talking about the same plastic that trash bags are made from?

And i dont know what to do with the humidity dome thing yet. Pictures when im done.

Fan idea yes very nice

Whiter the white, more the better

humidome is good for sprouting and
should be removed when first leaf pops overground. Wrap is fine.

Try googling weebluefish ;)
