forced flowering question

I'm gonna be planting some seeds outdoors, just to mess around and try some things out, before i plant the seeds i paid for.

if i were to put something over the plants that blocked all sunlight, to reduce hours of sunlight to about 8-9 per day after the plants were around a couple feet tall, could i only do that until they start flowering and i rip out the males? Or will they revert back to the veg state if they start getting ~15 hours of sunlight again?

thanks in advance!

ive heard of a pvc frame with black trash bag shaped into a cube. throw it over your plant during the last 3 hours of direct sunlight. i havent tried it but it should work.

but do you know if i do that for 3 weeks or so i can discontinue and it will still be flowering? or will it go back to veg?

if you start force flowering you should continue to do so until harvest. i wouldn't want to trip my plants out too bad. i suspect you would just begin to flower extremely slowly. the plant will want to veg, but it will have flowers to support at the same time. probably high stress.
