It is VERY difficult to quit smoking, I have been smoking since i was 17 years old. I will be the first to tell you that I was very addicted to smoking cigarettes. It ran my whole life, everytime I did something I wanted to light up. I've tried and said probably 20-30 times hey im going to quit i wont ever smoke again all to have failed each and everytime. I've tried the nicorette gum and that shit doesn't work...

I just wanted to create this thread because I decided once and for all that I want to get rid of those nasty ass cigs and just be free, and to my suprise this is my 2nd day without smoking...Its very hard for me to quit because my home life is a wreck, my parents are divorced but they both live here still (dads house) and they do worse drugs then marijuana while lying to my face about it, IM NOT DUMB. When i confront them because I care they just brush me off so IDK wtf to do. They smoke 24/7 sun up to sun down, while drinking in the evening and shit as well, so its like really beating down my self confidence to stay commited, but i think this time its gonna happen. No i KNOW its gonna happen. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I am going to be a living breathing story why you WANT to quit, despite having every single odd against you. Not only do I have probs @ home but my girlfriend & I have been on rocky terms this week, so its really tough but like I say I have to get through the storm to see the sunlight.

To all of you who have ever stopped smoking, or tried, if you TRULY want to quit then do something about it. Don't just say so because people really get tired of say so's, Trust me everytime I tried to quit I told my parents, friends, etc, but due to my failed attempts I just keep it to myself now because they just put me down and say LOL yea right stfu. If you know somebody who is trying to quit, or even if they are failing DONT be an asshole and say something like that, because they aren't in the spot to hear that.

I applaud every human being in the world who has successfully quit smoking cigarettes, they are bad, yet so good. I am going to add my name to that list!!!
Hope you like my rant
Peaccce!

Ya know i've been looking into those, because i would love to see my mom & dad stop as well, that would be the best...Do you still feel like your smoking a reg cigarette or is it not even worth it?

I smoke...been thinking about quitting after a road trip with my grandfather who has emphysema. He was a two pack a day smoker up until his quadruple bypass, it's funny you really never realize the gravity of the situation when your young. it broke my heart to see my hero have to stop for breath every 25 feet (and that's with oxygen). I drove 1200 miles only smoking when we stopped and he wasn't around, by the end of the trip i had cut down to a quarter pack a day (down from one pack). Now two weeks later i am back to the habit, i just get to be such an ass when i dont smoke. BUT I NEED TO QUIT!!

Being an ass for a few days beats killing yourself slowly so try it, up until two days ago i've been smoking packs a day for like a year....TIRED OF IT. Pretty sure i'm being an ass right now lol, but it will all pass i just need to get through the weekend and I shouldn't be an ass any longer, I will probably be twice as nice and happy as i was before.

Sorry to hear about your gpa man, its too bad that ciggs are legal and are more deadly then a poisonous snake.

Its funny because when I smoke every cig i try to blow the smoke away from myself and i wash my hands after every cig, thats like a smack in the face of how addicted i am/was

its been fairly solid 3 months for me...I do allow my self an occasional cigar...(like once a month)....the herb helped alot to stay calm and not freak out, in general MJ helps with many withdrawal symptoms...

i went to the DR today. the nurse was taking my vitals and she asked "do you smoke". i proudly said "no". i use to say "yes" and then got a 10 min lecture. to not have to hear the lecture is reason enough alone.

i feel good.

is pot smoking considered "smoking"? as in "do you smoke?" when asked by your DR. i could see where i would think no while the insisted yes.

unless its for a drug test or physical for a job, just tell the doc u smoke weed. they will still give u grief about smoking it, even in so cal.

when i went into the hospital they asked 'do you smoke' i said only weed, they basically shrugged it off. but when they asked if i drank any alcohol and i said maybe 8 beers a week, holy crap! you'd have thought i said 80 beers a week

Quitting is so much easier than everyone makes it out to be IMO. I started smoking when I was 12, I am now 24, so exactly half of my life I smoked. I am not out of the woods yet, but it's approaching 2 weeks since I've had a cig. For me, cravings are fleeting, rarely lasting more than 5 min. So I didn't need lots of willpower to quit, just willpower in 5min increments.

Although in the last two weeks I've almost smoked an oz, which is much more than usual. I assume that smoking will go down as I get more comfortable without tobacco.

Quit two years ago after 19 yrs at 2 packs
a day.I bought one last pack and froze it
in a big bowl of water so if I did want one
I would have to wait a minute and think
about it.Never thawed it out...chunked it
2weeks later and never looked back.
