those of you growin in pots this summer, do your plants a favor and take their soil temps with one of those meat thermometers you get at supermarkets.
i bet you will be shocked. i wouldn't be surprised some of you have 110+ temps.
if you find this, immediately pour cool water into the pot and never let it happen again!
to protect pots, you must do more than cover them because most covers will conduct heat to the pot and still cook the roots. No, you need to have something like wood or cardboard that is shading the pot and soil. this will get those temps down.
