Hey all... So i have an old school grower whos beein giving me advice lately and so far everythng hes said has worked...his latest recomendation is to foliar feed all through the plants cycle... I had a few mothers that were hungry for nitrogen so i mixed up some of humboltds verde and soaked em all down for a week ( kept on their regular feeding schedule) and its cleared up my nitrogen issues. So my question is, is foliar feeding during flower beneficial or just too risky (mold??) ?? Obviously id wana do it with lights off .

Oh and if it matters, im running a soil/ sog setup in a 6x6 tent. 450 cfms of venting and 2 wall mount oscilating fans, so theres an abundance of air flow. Temps are 62 at dark and 72 lights on with steady 35% humidity

I wouldn't recommend it in flowering unless what you want to feed them is organic. I'm unsure of how beneficial it would be during vegetative growth, but it wouldn't get on the buds that you're going to be smoking. I would just skip doing this altogether, maybe spray some kind of blooming agent on the leaves when you switch it over to 12/12 for flowering, but I would leave it at that.

Spraying during flowering = Bud rot during flowering...

If you have really fat, dense, compact buds, humidity becomes a factor without spraying. Start misting your flowering plants and you are begging for big problems.

Krash,
I'm an old school grower too We never used foliar feeding much...it's more of an emergency thing. And certainly not in bloom.

I never foliar feed, even in veg.

Why do people even suggest it? Are you trying to wash the leaves?

Leaves get their water from their petioles.

I'd rather spray known salts on my leaves than some organic shit, but why foliar feed at all?

Stop spraying the leaves! If you want to cure a nitrogen deficiency, feed the plant normally!

The bud rot thing was my concern as well... Im still in the learning stages and spraying with nitrogen was my way to see if what i thought was the problem was actually the problem, instead of puttin a hot mix of nutes in the pots and burning them up..and it worked so it was by no means a failure, more of a learning curve. I wasnt looking for advice from people who have never done it or people parroting what others say . I knew this was an old school trick and i got a response from at least one old school guy so thank u for that!!! I think were on the same page though for sure cus the mold issue concerned me

^That is the only real purpose behind foliar feeding. If you have a deficiency, foliar feeding is the fastest way to correct it. But, better to amend the soil than foliar feed because of the other issues mentioned.
