Flush Info Needed

Hey all, currently on my second grow and I'm planning on heading home for the holidays so I wanted to flush my plants before I left. Reasons being, when I get back I'll probably start flowering and I don't want them to get thirsty while I'm gone =X.

As far as the actual flush goes, I've never done it before. I mean, I give regular water to them every other watering but I've never fully filled the pots until water came out the bottom.

I heard about using the bath tub and dunking the pots in but I'm not too sure about that one. I have about 2 gallons of water getting ready but I'm not positive it'll be enough to fill all the pots entirely with water. Also, is it true you should use 1/4 strength nutes when you flush? And how is this achieved if you use the bathtub method? Thanks all in advance. I'll post pics if needed.

Flush with plain water only. Use 3 times as much water as your pot could hold. I put one pot into the tub, flush, let it drain out the runoff, and repeat with the next pot.

So when you put it in the tub, you don't actually fill up the tub first, you put the pot in the tub and fill it up with water until there's runoff correct?

Do not put water in the tub. Open the drain. Place a potted plant in the tub. If it's a 1 gallon pot. Pour 3 gallons of straight water in the pot & let it drain out the holes in the bottom of the pot until it stops enough to move. The runoff goes down the drain. You probably want to have a strainer of some sort in your drain because some soil will come out. I'd do this the day before you leave then water before you leave.

How big are the plants?

I can't give you an exact height because I'm training them, but they are pretty big, I'd say 1 1/2 - 2 feet if they were upright. I'm planning on flushing them tomorrow morning before I leave, will that be enough?

Tomorrow will have to be. Set them on plates full of water or put water in the trays and pray.

No one can care for them while your gone?

Sadly no, everyone I can trust will be going home for the holidays as well. And I don't trust many...

Leaving tomorrow coming back on Friday...that's not too long is it? :wall:

adding nutrients to your flush solution is used when you have a nutrient definciency, i prefer to do this if i get lockd out, i always recommend this to anyone who would listen, and of all my issues it was one person who told me this, cant remember his name but i swear by.....like i said only add nutes when you have problems at a diluted strength
