Fluffy Buds

Ok getting ready to harvest my https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/86225-al-b-fuct-tribute-grow.html and although i think i did a pretty good job first time out and being that I transplanted once, forgot to plug back in the pumps for 15 hrs during the 5th weeks from clone.

My question is I have some smaller plants and they all have fluffy buds. They are all sticky as hell but no weight. I have 3 others that are HUGE almost soda can huge. so that makes me wonder.

Its not the plant for i have 3 different plants with the same problem. What is the normal cause of this so i can change my system if need be. Right now they are under 1600 w HPS in a 4x6 area. flora series and no Co2

I am thinking its because of the stress because they never really recovered from the week 5 thirst, out lots of dried leaves and whatnot.

Let me have it guys my eyes are open for learning.

Here is kinda a pic of the smaller buds

Shorter than the rest, my guess is not enough light got to them.
Naw they had light, lots of it! I have read that heat could have caused it also and when it got real hot here my room climbed to 88 to 90 for about 2 weeks and this was also during my attempts to kill them with no water. All the others are fine.

They'll be alright.... They just need more time. Harvest the buds that ARE nice and firm and give the rest another coupla weeks.

No they are not like your thinking. They are growing on themselves making finger like buds not filling out . I know what your thinking though and i thought the same and i had one of the big plants do that but has since filled out. These never did.

Ahh but i have sisters of these that are doing just fine right along with these. Now these were smaller plants but same genetics.
even though they are the same strain sometimes different phenotypes pop up. some may be taller, some may be shorter, some may react differently to the same ppm, all from the same exact strain. not saying the genetics are unstable but it could be a possibility.:eyesmoke:

Good point ! anyone else think this is a possibility? Interested to see what others think. I always thought clones were the same as mothers.

My last harvest of some k2`s i was having the exact same problem, fluffy buds. They grew under 2x 400w hps in soil using foxfarm nutes.

Now i harvested some BB in that same grow and they had rock hard buds. Funny thing is clones of the same strain (K2) have been flowering 7 weeks, and all the buds are hard. Everything exactly the same as in the previous grow.

The only problem we had in the fluffy grow was gnats and we treated that with sand and fly strips. We`ve had those before and never endedup with fluffy buds. Anywayz, i know wtf your talking about and it sux.

That's heat, stress and genetics. Some strains can't handle heat all that well while others do fine.

oops i should have known if you were growing in the style of al b that you were using clones. i was stoned and thought u were using clones but i forgot and thought they were from seed, so disregard my statement lol.:eyesmoke:

Thats what i think happened also. About the time i fried them, the day temps were in the high 80;s and low 90's makes sense and i have corrected both problems. We shall see this next run.

Thanks for the input

Anyone else ?

No worries thanks for trying

All I've grown for the last 5 years has been clones. I've NEVER seen a different phenotype. I change the mother plant about once every 9 months ( they get huge) but the new mothers are clones of the original seed plant, and every plant grows up just like every other, EXCEPT if a particular clone is shaded by mommy at startup. That plant usually grows up stunted, but it's buds are still the same as the rest, cept maybe a little smaller.

Don't see how you can get a different phenotype from clones.

Yea I agree! Its odd though how i can get 2 different sizes of plants from the same mother. IT has to be the root system is coming from the cloner one has a better root system allowing more nutes to reach the plant.
