its a gradual process man... I mean, its not like all the sudden, within one weeks time.. your going to see buds.
Buds are formed by a bunch of individual calyx's.. that's all a bud is.

if your wanting to know what week you should be able to see buds... I would say around week 6 to harvest. This is when the buds actually start forming their shape.

Are you talking pistils or formed buds?? Pistils in 1-2 weeks after 12/12, unless they began to show their sex while still in veg, (pre-flower). Those bud sites are, what Cannabisguru stated, nothing more than calyxes and pistils. The pistils emerge 2 at a time from a single calyx, after awhile, the pistils are drawn back into the calyx to see if they have become pollinated, if so, seed growth will begin, if not more pistils are put out, looking for pollen. That's when the buds start to form and grow....

This picture shows the pistils browed/reddened up, withdrawing back into the calyx, where it will be checked for pollen. This stage of the bud gives more of the appearance of what a bud looks like when finished, or being close to finishd.

.. I appreciate it canna. I knew it wasn't an overnight thing but wanted to know when you should actually be able to see them. I'm just starting week 2 of flowering my LA OG Kush plants and i'm SUPER anxious haha they are beauties.
So from your answer, buds do most of their shaping / bulking up in the last 2-3weeks of flowering?(this could also help me with timing nute feeds)

buds generally start to flower in week two, early stages you can tell where your flowers-buds will be growing from - and fim them more flowers more buds.... good luck nice strain to start with peace

She is a mystery bean (bag seed), I found in a dust pile in the back of a drawer. I suspect it was from a middie grade....sometimes an unknown bagseed will produce some rightous dank, or so they say!!! I'm on my first grow!!AWESOME response Mauler
