Flowering question

I have been vegging for about 3 weeks now.. my plants are about 7 inches tall... No signs of pre flowering yet.. How long untill i should see pre flowers? Also .. If still no signs when my plants are 12 inches tall .. and i wanna switch them to 12/12 .. How long until i would notice the sex... This is my first grow so any advise would be AWESOME!

you won't see any signs of sex till you switch to 12/12 lighting then how long it takes depends on what strain you have. check out the grow faq at the top of the page it has loads of good info for you.

Anything from 10-14 days under 12/12 lighting - sometimes a bit earlier, sometimes a bit later depending on strain...

I noticed the sex of my White Widow after about 8 days on 12/12

preflowers won't appear indoors until flower is introduces by switching light to 12/12 cycle. and even after this it can take some time till they will revel their sex, thats depending on light and strain you use.
but since your plants are only 3 weeks old and about 7" tall i would do it now. in general you get the best out of a plant if you wait till it matured enough before flowering it. and this takes round about 8 weeks with some strains up to 12-14, but those are rather odd. easiest sign for maturity is the alternation of the notches in level

if you don't want to wasted 8-12 weeks of power and love on a plant you later on have to kill or kick out you may want to take a few clones and flower those as soon as the got roots

Thanks for all the info... So you say i should start to flower now? Also.. Where would i cut to make a clone..? I have a rooting hormone... Do i cut the branch and a 90 degree angle .. dip it in rooting hormone and plant it.. ? how is it done? Thank you so much..

no, i didn't told you to flower now, i gave you advise to take a clone and flower this clone to determine the sex of your plant. that i did.
