Flowering Phase For My Mini Plant... My New Experiment!!

I'm growin' a plant from bag seed that somehow stayed mini!! It has vegged for over a month already, but even after that time, it still stayed super small. I started the flowering stage three days ago. It has yet to show signs of sex, and probably won't for another week, but I am hopeful for a female. It has 6 or so nodes and is under 5 inches tall. I don't know why it is super small, could be the genetics, or anything.

Usually after I veg for a month, they are at least a foot tall. I am using CFL's and no nutes... The same way I've always grown. We'll see how it plays out.

Obviously, the growth is nowhere near what a one month plant should have... My goal now is to flower a bud right out of the ground. I have a feeling that this is what's going to happen with this plant... If it turns out to be female.

What do you guys/girls think? Any input is welcome!

its like the guy with the short penis not really worth much but gives you kick out of watchin it ehh? lol

This type of experiment has always interested me too. It's cool to see being done with CFL's and no nutes too. And (pending whether it's M/F) if she only gives you a G of goodies in the end, oh well. It was fun growing experience and a great laugh! And sometimes you can't really put a price on that, my friend.

Are you growing all your plants with CFL's and no nutes?

Another note: I was wondering if you remember the origin of that bagseed? Perhaps it may have some lowrider genetics in it, giving it a very short pheno? Just a thought.

Take it easy dude.

Yes, I do grow with only CFL's and no nutes for every plant. For some reason, I have had great success with this method. Of course, I know that with nutes and better lighting, I would yeild much more, and bigger buds. I don't really want to run MH/HPS though (even though I like MH/HPS better) because I would have to worry about the temperature more than I'd like to. The seed came from a bag of mids. But all seeds have the potential to be super nice plants if grown correctly.

Anyway, the plant is really starting to show a "crown" type of top... Almost like it's starting to flower without any pistils showing. Still looks very healthy.

I agree with the heating issue with HPS/MH's. But they're definitely superior lights for rooms with quality ventilation/cooling. As for me, i got a 400W HPS for high up in my closet, along with a bunch of CFL's close to the plants. I found this balance was the best to keep my temp in the mid 70's. Cuz as for me, I've always despised dealing with cooling machines and apparatus's haha.

I've had great success going all natural in the past too. As for now, i try to stick mainly to organic nutes. But good job and +rep for goin' all natural buddy! haha

And you gotta love the suprizes bagseed can have in store for you! :eyesmoke:
(i have 2 bagseed's vegging + 3 Pure Purple Plants about 7 days behind them, i love this strain, highly recommend. The PPP will be SCROG'd :hump:)

Best of luck to you, i'll be checkin back to see how (hopefully SHE) matures.

Go Go shorty!!! Hope it perks up!
I had a shorty my last grow, she perked up after flowering and now is the second tallest in the area. She had some odd leaves to work out, so maybe there's something mutant in her yet to come!!

Well..................... Damnit. I believe I see a ball forming on one of the branches. Not cool. I have a feeling my fun is coming to a screeching halt on this plant.

OH NO MAN! That's truly beat-street... Send pics if you wanna run it by us too.

This reminded me of a funny story.. in one of my earlier grows, i had about 6 mystery indoor seeds vegging. And of course my favorite plant (showed some great sativa traits and was the largest) grew balls on me...

It was such a letdown at the time, so in a swell depressed anger i took scissors and proceeded to chop all his balls off just for the hell of it! hahaha It was pretty funny and gave me a (slight) sense of satisfaction i guess. The plant disappointed me, and it was way too cold outside for a transplant, so i had to end his beautiful life anyway...

Ever since then i've never put faith in my largest plant... I always feel like my largest ends up being a male. It's interesting. Maybe not always, but enough to make a note of it.

Anyone else notice this trait? (with the exception of Fennimore's mini plant haha)

No new balls, but about 2 inches of growth since yesterday and the top of the plant looks just like it would if it were to start the budding phase... I'm starting to think the "ball" might just be a larger than normal calyx waiting to shoot the pistils out (but that's just empty hope, cause it's most likely a male preflower).

I will take a picture or 2 right when I figure out, for sure, what the sex is.

Just out of curiousity-

What sort of issues do you have to deal with when not using any nutrients? My guess is you'd have a lot of leaves dropping after a few weeks flowering, but I don't know at all since I've never done a nute-free grow.

And as for the runt- I wish HER my best of luck. I love seeing ultra-micro grows :leaf:

just recently i put a plant into flower and a ball showed at about 5 days but that was the only one and now is a full blown female. i havent found anymore male flowers so you could still have a chance.
