i use 5-2700k's and 1-6500k for the whole grow. i read somewhere on here that you the 6500k in just to mix up the light spectrum. so far, its worked well for me.

2700k for flower all the way.

A box of 25W Great Value brand "soft white" bulbs from Wal Mart will work great.

you need fans throughout the whole grow to help keep heat down and just for air movement in your grow box/room.

hi, I am doing my first grow. I have:
2x cfl 45w 4200k
2x cfl 85w 2700k
2x hps 75w ?2100k?
so its 410w, I am at flowering stage, so hard to get rid of the heat temp go 80F-90F, should i turn of hps and flower with cfl only? i have same space 3ft square. i didn't expect so much heat... :(

Well, if they are old enough to handle a sturdier breeze you may think about adding a fan or two, depending on the size of the fans you already have. I would use both if I had the choice, More light = more energy = faster grow...@ very base anyway, there are a lot of factors...

Also, it's worth noting that you should be more worried about your lumens/sq. ft more than wattage...
actully purple, watts are much much much more important than lumens. Lumens really mean nothing, their just something that shows how strong the light is. I can have a 105 watt 2000 Lumen CFL produce the same amount as bud with a 105 watt 1500 Lumen CFL as long as the lights are close to the plant Lumens means nothing especially for microgrows or stealth grows. Lumens really only comes into account when your dealing with large grow rooms with HPS or maybe some MH lights.

Wrong wrong wrong, plants do not run on watts in the outdoors do they? Plants convert light energy (i.e. lumens) into plant energy witch is used to grow (alo known as photosynthesis)

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Lumens is a measurement for how humans see light, it's completely irrelevant... Plants only care about light temperature, and how much light there is.

The lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI unit of luminous flux, a measure of the power of light perceived by the human eye. ...

hi,
thanks for answering, i have 2 fans 7inch and one 6inch taking air out also one 6 inch fan putting air in, also a 12" oscillating table fan facing upward towards the plant and bulbs at max speed. space is 17"x27", right now i have 4x45w 42 4200k 3100umens = 180w/12400lumens
but during flowering i am planning to use this:
2x cfl 45w 4200k 3100lumens =90w/6200lumens
2x cfl 105w 2700k 7140lumens=210w/14280lumens
2x hps 75w 2100k 6300lumens= 150w/12600lumens
total 450w/33080lumens with hps off is 300w/20480lumens
total
temperature right now with 4x45w hps on is 88.4F, with hps off is 75.8F~78F, the plant is 10" tall in the 6th week of vegetation stage, fruity juice x northern lights x skunk F1 strain
should i go with only one hps on in flowering and 4xcfl, that would be 375w/27780lumens?
is there enough light, should i add another 2x45w when flowering
can i prune, remove bad leafs on the last day of vegetation stage? are the two 105w cfl in 2700k spectrum ok? or should i get more in the 2700k spectrum or back it up with hps? thanks to everyone for answering peace

i think watt is better for specifying because lumens in cfl decrease over time but to compare to daylight lumens comes in handy, who knows how many watt the sun produces...
