Being using this 200 watt 25,000k flourescent to grow my northern lights.Ive been told that it is not the correct bulb type-ie i should be using 6400k for growth and 2700k for bloom.guy i bought it off says it does both the blue and red spectrum?any info guys??

as you can see from the side of the box that it does both spectrums.anyone out ther using the same setup. My weed has been growing on this lamp from seed and seems to be doing ok.just wanna know incase i should actually be using a 6400k for growth and a 2700k for bloom hence producing a better yeild?pics below:

This is a mixed spectrum light. It is no different than if you had a day light bulb and a warm bulb in there. Lots of people mix lights like that and say it is great. You just have a light where they are both in one. You are doing great. Really in the end you could also flower with that same light.

IMO your plants seem to like it just fine so why change what is working. Hope that helps.

Also, If you are flowering in that same room you may consider toping your larger plant. It looks like it is getting tall and when you flower you will see 2-3 times the current growth by the end of harvest.

ya thats true, why fix something thats not broke as they say!Ya im gunna stick with it as when you look at the bulb closely you can see one half red and one half blue..
when you say topping i take it that involves cutting down the top of the plant?in what way do i go about this?cheers

Disinfect a razer blade or scissors and cut of the top noid where the newest growth is starting. You can cut just the very top one or you can go down a couple depending on what size you want it.

Once you do this your plant will focus more energy on growing your lower branches out more to create a more bushy low profile rather than a tall and lanky plant. New growth will continue to grow at the top and you will now have a "Y" shaped top cola with 2 tops.

You can keep doing this to the top of your plant to create more and more bud spots but you will need to give it 5-10 days to grow out more and lesson shock. It does also slow the growth rate down a bit but is well worth it in small areas. You can also do it on the tips of your lower branches.
