Florida shrooming

So today I found two cow patties with small shrooms growing from them. My questions is the conditions have been ideal for many days now but how long does it take for a baby shroom to fully develop?

Ya gotta get out there about 5:30 or 6, just before the sun comes up. You'll see the 'shrooms on the CS patty. If you can see them and they have a cap, it's all good. Most you'll find are gonna be about 2 or 3 in across, but there is alot little ones that are just as potent. And do not worry. There is nothing in North america that grows directly in cow dung that resembles stropharia cubensis. Eat them fresh, I eat 'em on a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, PB masks the taste. You can boil 'em down into tea also.
GREAT HIGH!!!! I'd love to get some fresh.

hey pirate, is that advisable? i would stem on the side of caution when dealing with wild mushrooms. is there a tell tale sign to know which are fine and which will kill you?

I don't think I am talking about cubensis, I have seen small cubensis and they basically look like a dick. But these I am seeing everywhere are a total of maybe a inch and a half, the stem is very skinny and white almost translescent, and the top is umbrella shape with the middle being brown and fading to white going outward. I have been trying to find like a florida mushroom guide with pics or I would just identify them myself but I'm having trouble finding a free one.

Go to the library. there are all kinds of feild guides to mushrooms there.
Fully developed cubensis has a flat(ish) cap (brown fading to light tan at the edges) about 2-3 in tall and will stain purple/blue. there is "usually' a ring around the stem, leftovers from the membrane that holds the spores in the underside gills. Immature cubensis has a more "high domed" cap (looks just like a little dick), still brown. It also probably hasn't dropped its spores yet. When they drop thier spores, the cap broadens and flattens out quite a bit. Membrane below forms a "ring" around the stem. Look for the staining blue. Break one, it'll turn blue/purple where its exposed to air. And it'll turn pretty quick. Stem can be anywhere from real skinny and thin, to a robust, firm sten about the diameter of a thick pencil.
There is not another mushroom that grows DIRECTLY ON, in, or under the cowpie that looks like or has the 'staining" properties of cubensis. It's unique. Kinda hard to fuck it up.
First time I ever ate them, I waited to die. Seriously! Then we started getting high and it was all good.
Where ya at? I was living in Orange park (Jacksonville). Lots 'o farms out there. Or used to be back in the 70's

Today I went out early and found the same thing I explain, basically found nothing. I live about an hour west from Jacksonville. The weather has been perfect for shrooms because of the rains the last three days. Oh and I went out there at daybreak at around 620am. You should have seen the fcking cows staring at me through the trees.......scary. I also seen a hog I think it was black. And a sht load of deer.

Dude if it's a wild hog those things will fuck you up. If he has tusks, don't go out there unless you have a gun. I doubt there's many wild hogs in florida... but yeah ocean dude, you should totally get a camera, I'm considering doing this too, I'd like to see what you find.

I've dealt with hogs before, I only had a knife though. The knifes blade is about 5 in. I had to shoot one once, and when I say had I mean just that, wasnt shroom hunting going to grow area and then I had to bolt becuase that shit was loud. I might go out there again sometime, but for now I think I am going to focus on growing them. There just wasnt anything out there beside what I described....sucked.

Dude, trust me. N. Fla is LOADED with razorbacks. ALL of florida is home to them. I have property right where dude is at, and i can assure you they are there.

Well first of all, Florida is littered with wild hogs. In fact, probably 85% of the states have boar in them. You just seldom see them because they stay in the seclusion of the woods. But yes, definately bring a pistol or something next time you go out there. Those animals will really fuck you up.

pirate any suggestions for looking for them? I am having some trouble.
Honestly I was more afraid of the cows rather the hogs.

I have never heard of anyone being attacked by a hog that didn't fuck with the hog first. You make enough noise, they'll avoid you.

Depends on where in Fla you are. If you're in N. Fla, try around Maclenny, lake City, Green Cove area, There are lots of cow farms around there. Best to look for a large dairy farm. You are a lot less likely to get shot on a larger farm. They WILL shoot you for fucking with their cows. (Rock salt & bacon rind if you are lucky)

As for finding them, after a good rain, get out there around 5:30 (before dawn) Wait for the sun to come up, and start hunting. You might go out there and find a million of them, and you might find none. There was a rumor that they were adding an additive to the cattle feed that prevented Stropharia. Probably a lie.
Ya gotta remember, last time I went shrooming, we just asked the farmers permission to go shrooming, and promised not to fuck with their cows. If the cops stopped us, we had a bag of shrooms, so what? They weren't illegal then.

I was going to go back out there this morning but got high and ended up falling asleep... So tomorrow when I go out there I will be searching a new area its under a tree grove in shade. The only thing that worries me is I have only seen two cows in the area. But have seen a lot of shit.
