can a grow operation inside of a tent be detected by a helicopter on a floor beneath the attic? (e.g. inside of an upstairs bedroom?)

i'm thinking of getting a setup with two 600w lights in an XXL budbox tent but not sure if its gona be safe enough

Do you live in a huge city with helicopters flying around daily with heat signature cameras? I've got my grow in a box made out of panelling in my spare bedroom and haven't heard anything flying over my house. I'm thinking you should be fine too

If you vent the heat down into your house taking clean air fromoutside they won't see anything but if you vent into you attic space it will make your roof possibility look hotter than your neighbours such could raise suspicion.

I know in the UK they do actively fly out over towns and cities looking for possible grow houses

i'll be keeping the air vented inside the same room with a window open to let air out. the helicopter comes out 3 or 4 times a month around here. i'm in the UK

if thats the case, would they see my grow op if its in a tent inside of a room with no venting pointed directly to the attic or window?

Oh wait I missread you post I thought you were growing in your attic. I'm dumb, the answer is no they can't with current technology that I'm aware of

so say i had this large tent with the extractor fan taking all of the hot air out.. is it best that the tent isnt directly touching the walls as the fan would be blowing the hot air onto the walls?

i'd be venting in the same room (tent about 80cm from wall) with a window open at certain times of the day

The answer is, probably not. If you can get a copy of a video called Never get Raided, you can see some FLIR cameras in action, and get a better idea of what they can and can't see. It detects the contrast between hot and cold spots which actually does provide a great deal of information, but it can not see through walls.

I would advise against haveing your window open just incase your filter if your using one fails I keep my bedroom door open to distribute the heat evenly through the house.

I've seen articles and stuff on tv where a cop has been walking down the street and sniffed out someones grow op. To me the smell is a much bigger issue than heat.
