flies... what are they?? high resolution pics

Ok so look at this critter that I found.

I've seen a few of them flying around and the first picture is one that got caught in some of my fly paper.

The second picture is one of them that I caught in the act. Hanging around on one of my pots. Any clue as to why they are?

They come from having the soil/medium too wet. Let it dry out some and that will kill the babies. They can get out of controll real fast.

fungal gnats get some organic pestiscide at your local garden store make sure you can use it on vegtables and fruit.

What camera make & model did you use to capture that image? I must know.
Ya know, I just broke up with my girlfriend last night who I bought it for. So I no long have it... :(

Dry out the soil and get some sticky strips

excellent! thanks for all the replies! They have actually gotten out of control. I'm going to let the soil dry out some and then use some organic pesticide. Thanks!!:clap:

Oh man, do you know what brand it was? Was it a SLR camera (one of those big bulky ones)?

Nope. It was a small one with a sliding lens cover. Samsung maybe? I'm not sure.... I could ask her for you I guess...
