So im makin a small batch of oil here afghan kush ryder had 6 grams from a small auto that I used for pollen... now what im wondering is have any of you ever heard or personally taken a small torch and torched ur oil real quick. It would disperse butane just going over it quickly but will it alter the taste or end product...thoughts

lol will it ruin flavor?
Ok well flavor will be altered yes lol... but you wouldnt actually be touching the oil with the flame keep it an inch away so its the heat that does a quick purge after you have hot bathed all big bubbles away
...fuck hard to explain if I took a video any way I can post it on here from cell phone ive never found a way

Id just sit it on a hot plate or hit it with a heat gun. Torches are really hot. If anything hit the bottom of the pyrex dish with it slowly and evenly. Ive done this with my heat gun to get the oil to drip into one part of the pyrex to scrape easier.

Don't do it!
Most know I do a natural evap to get the best product...it takes a while....sometimes I scoop a chunk that has already dropped out with a butter knife...once I held a lighter under for a bit..it ruined it..I mean smokable but....
Better way is tossing that glob on a pyrex on your stove top on medium low and playing with it for a minute..that's what I do
Obviously I'm talking bout iso....but same thing..it will ruin it

Ya I just did my regular purge with hot bath 130/140f whip, scrape after whipping n purging for about 30 min then spread it back out thin temp back to 140f then take pyrex dish of hot water bath let cool over night... sometimes I get really good shatter oul but I cant scrape it off the dish like in this pic because when I do its like a fucking dust bho and gets on my.hands so I sometimes have to heat the dish up to like 110f to get the oil to be a lil more goey when I scrape then it turns back into hard as a rock shatter.....how do you all dab shatter u guys just crush it into.lil chunks u can dab?

I don't know man..I'm still trying to figure out how to dab shatter..I've tried storing in syringes and warming then push a glob out..didn't work that great, but not bad..and don't have a needle or anything on the end....I'm currently in love with the powder hash, a buddy told me he's seeing it sold as "moon dust" idk never heard that before..didn't look nearly as good as my white qwiso though.....but the powdery hash however you go about getting it there. is my fav for dabbing..I also like wax a lot, its not sticky and malleable so easy to just pinch a chunk..I'm not really a fan of solid shatter...so I don't make it :o
Just wax it up.....you probly could crush it up to get powder, never tried it..

Shatter used to be all the rage round here..Ive lost so much trying to scrape and it flying across the room in pieces...I gave up on that one

Right now everyone's wanting dabable jelly at room temp

Ya heres the shit I make usually... depends on how I make my temps I usually make powder... but ita. Pain to dab u gotta get some on the dabber then melt its real quick dip.it back in the powder to get a nice fat dab rather than a bho goey oil thats quick n sticky to dab

Dabable jelly temps higher up 160 + ive found or purge on candle warmer lil hotter then needed but u get a jelly

For the powder I use some coca spoon my smoke shop had..lil vial and spoon for bumps I guess...but the powder goes in nice and then I spoon out some and just drop on my domeless.. works pretty good for me

I've read some oil makers who just purge only with low heat & time. I use both low heat(hot water) and vac pressure to purge my shatter but to make it easier to dab I like to torch the bottom of my dabber dish for half a second to make the oil pliable again.. After a minute it stiffens up again but allows you to pull a nice tailed dab in the perfect quantity. If I try to do too fat a dab with my domeless though, it falls right through ...sux! so I break out the heavy artillery (18" bong with quartz nail dome) if a heady one is the order of the day. That being said I bet you could slowly purge with low heat using a torch if done very careful with temp control (laser thermometer?) it's obviously not a preferred method but it could be done in a pinch IMO.

I got one of those candle warmers haha i used it for qwiso a few times.

check out these http://www.harborfreight.com/air-vacuum-pump-with-r134a-and-r12-connectors-96677.html

Im going to get one soon because i already have a small air compressor that should be able to power it fine.

Says it can get up to 28.5" which isnt too shabby. Gonna make a vacuum lid for my pyrex dish and just keep it all in one container. Gotta get one of those new slick sheets that are approved to blast right onto. Then i got a toaster over i can turn on warm and i set my pyrex on top of the toaster oven and it keeps it at a nice 100 to 110 for the low and slow purge.

Well thats the nice thing is that once you have the compressor filled with air all you have to do is release it to pull a vacuum and depending on the size of the air compressor you may have to kick it back on.

Im in an apartment too but luckily they have people moving out and movin in all the time so there are workers who come in and replace carpet/paint old apartments once or twice a week so the noise would be too noticeable for me. haha but i feel it. My mini cab fans make hella noise but its really low so it just kinda blends with the traffic.

You can always get one of those brake bleeders? Its a hand pump and can only pull like 25" but ive heard its better than nothing.

thats what I've been using until I can save enough for a power vac pump... It maxes at 25 but does purge oil- like you say better than nothing- let us know how that compressor vac pump works out for ya. I'm curious because it's gotta be less effort than hand pumping. Purging with a hand pump is not as hard as I thought it would be though...

Yeah the hand pumps dont get stiff til the lower end. Ive seen alot of different "aspirators" and they have ones that hook up to sinks and the air powered one i linked to is basically just a compressed air aspirator so it is stronger and can pull a better vacuum. And its so cheap since i already have an air compressor. I wish i could modify my toaster over to heat to a really low temp and stay constant cause its the perfect size for nice personal batches but the heating elements are a little too close and the temp cant be set low enough.
