damn...magic worm blower....I don't remember who had told me about injecting worms with air but its been years, never seen that before. I just thought it was a old coon ass trick...kinda like pinching the nose of a crawfish before using it as bait. this really pissem off and they get active on the hook.

yo and jimmy I tend to put the air in the rear so the worm kinds looks like its diving down head first, if you fish with ultra light tackle, and can cast with out the split shot, the worm will float like a top water bait..

another trick I use is to put my soft plastic worms in the box with live worms ..it gets the live worm smell and taste

Damn..I love to catch fish!

All the bass I catch,I release to catch another day.Let'em get bigger and have lots babies.I would rather eat the more plentiful and much better tasting, tender, flakey white meat of the perch, crappie or catfish we catch.

Y'all be good, keep that line tight:)

Looks like you might have had a beaver issue in the creek a while back.

Is there any market for the skates on your coast?

I'll have to dig up a picture of some our Weather vane scallops - their shells are as big as a dinner plate.
No sir. We usually do the same thing w/ skate, as we do with gar.

You must be from AK, or somewhere close. Those/these are Atlantic Sea Scallops, which we've had some big ones also!
From last year

AK, yep.
We have a pretty good (Asian) market for giant skates even though they are still by-catch when targeting flats.
And they don't want them refrigerated - our guys just toss them into above-deck bins in the sun.
Yuck!!

I also did a bit of Rock Shrimping on a couple of boats out of Canaveral in the early 80's and broke more than one fishing rod on the damn Cobia that hang around when you're sorting.
But boy are they fun.

There is hardly any Asians in my area, sadly. Just for the simple fact, I want to bang a hot Asian woman lmao.

What is "yalls" scallop market like up there? Is it like it is here on the east coast?
Speaking of actual fishing, if you've ever seen the show wicked tuna...these boats (not those exact ones) love to fish around us when we're scalloping.

But no, we don't do anything with skate at all, even when shrimping. They're usually the first thing I try to get out of the cull table, and the goddamn crabs.

Shrimping is a good median, I think. It's fun, easy work & with a little extra work you can make decent $ doing it.
These baskets came from a 20 minute try-net we had this summer.

When I say Asian market I mean they are shipped to Asia for consumption.
I would have your fish buyer look into it - those people eat almost anything that comes out of our waters including Grey Cod milt (cum).
Man, that's gotta taste good.

I miss shrimping - it was a hoot & good money for a young guy that likes to work his ass off.

LMAO, I feel stupid as fuck. I will definitely ask, because that is a good point & the ones we've been catching have been "door mat" sized. I think we're going to try squid sometime too, never done that - but it sounds pretty much like shrimping.
They eat dogs too, even have a festival for it....wtf?!?!

Shrimping isn't THAT bad, until you're stuck on the deck all day from consistent 40+ basket tows. Hell, the worst part is getting ice on them.
I've been looking on Athearn Marine & a few other places for a decent 75-90 foot steel hull scalloper/shrimper....It's coming. I figure hell, if I can run the boat on wheel watch & do just about everything else why be a deckhand? If you can drive a truck, you can "drive" a boat in the 30-100 foot range.

Slaying them today!
It's on brotha!
I C&R'd 4 before keeping those two. And it only gets better with the later fall run. You gotta wake up early and go out with us one of these mornings. That was yesterday btw:-) Red Bluff. The Feather still sucks ass, and it closes in two weeks.

Right on, I was just out that way today for an appointment. One of these days I'll get up at dusk and tag along :) the feather went through too much crap this year it seems with pge and all that other crap going on with that river, the fish are probably pissed off and confused lol

That's how I fish lakes, blow up that worm. I thread the worm through the lower part of the ring and blow up the top. I actually add air to both ends but the top part floats better because it's not threaded. Leave about a foot of liter line and that worm floats about a foot off the bottom squirming around. Works great. Been fishing like that for decades.
