First visit to Slater today

I am a new patient in RI late last year. I am disabled vet and on fixed income, have been able to replace narcotics with marijuana, which is great as long as medication is in steady supply. I have an awesome caregiver who provides great meds and prices. I tend to need 3-4 oz a month and my fixed income gave me just enough most months.

I added Slater in my 2nd slot last month

I went into Slater today and was very impressed with the staffs attention to detail and professionalism. I worked through the paperwork and was added into system and able to buy.

I was going to try my months budget at Stater and had my eye on an oz of some of the lower tier flowers (under 250 oz). While the board showed a few options, they were all out of that tier..(someone said because first of month spending last few days).

I ended up grabbing some different strains in the 250-400 range in 14g, 3.5g and 1 g incriments (42 grams flowers total)

I have to say the stock situation was a bit of a bummer and after sampling 2 diff strains (strawberry cough, critical jack and pineapple) so far I am finding the flowers very dry, I assume from being on shelves for a while. Funny I have been buying medication from patients and caregivers this last year and not once did I get meds that were like this.

I hope the freshness of the flowers is just an opening deal and not ongoing. I find dry powder type medication difficult to vaporize and is best suited for edibles I think.

I also grabbed a gram of the black headband hash....OMG.... And honey oil.....also quite amazing......great job on those.....

I did get the discount for disability which was awesome. Meds are well tested and very nice looking overall and hope as they grow will have inventory and fresher meds.

At the end of the day what I spent at Slater usually got me 84 grams of flowers and few grams of keif or hash so I was only able to buy half of what I hoped.

It is a nice resource to have at my disposal and I will surely be back in, just not for my monthly meds unless something changes.

That seems to be a pretty fair assessment. What was the pricing on the Headband hash? The only thing I left with on opening day was some very nice Subcool hash that was decently priced ($20/g). If they have something new in at that range, I'll swing by.

I went to Slater the other day for the first time. They had a decent selection of flowers, about 10-15 strains. They also had five different BHO varieties. I bought a couple, and am pleased with the quality and consistencies. The place is very nice, and some of the staff is very helpful. The prices are more expensive than street prices, and definitely more expensive than a compassionate caregiver would charge. My main gripe is that while you can get bulk discounts for all flowers, there is no discount at all for concentrates. All I use to medicate 90% of the time is oil sooo wasn't too pleased with that. They keep saying that the real "compassion center" prices will start when they start producing their own. Time will tell.

I make a lot of hash with my caregiver's trim, so I'm not willing to pay more than $20/g for it. I figured it wouldn't take long for $20/g to go away, it was way too close to being a good deal...

I bought the diesel oil for $60 a g. It was very nice but I have to say I thought my own self made oil tasted slightly better. Overall I'm psyched they're there. I love the fact this is available in RI. I probably had a smile from ear to ear walking out of there for the first time. I have nothing bad to say. Money isn't an issue for me personally. I understand if price is an issue for some people they might be disappointed and they have a legit point. I hope once flowers are being produced on site and available, the pricing will come down.

I signed up with them on Tuesday and hope I get a call or letter next week sometime so I can FINALLY..buy something! Their selection looked okay from what I could see on my very brief tour. How do they contact you get the go ahead? Call or letter? I was told they bring the applications to the DOH on Mondays.

I tried the medicine man honey oil, the east coast pure honey oil and the diesel honey oil. all 3 concentrates were crap! The taste of these concentrates left a bad flavor in my mouth and lacked the potency you would expect from a concentrate

Slater's concentrates are not worth the $60/g imho

Flower selection was limited and nothing excited me.

That sucks about the oil.. I've heard a few people say that the oils were good. I felt the same after seeing and smelling their top bud strain though, it didn't seem all that great. I wish they had a larger selection of everything! When I do end up buying from there I won't be shy about letting them know how I liked it when I return and if you didn't like the concentrates let them know when you go back.

I think you will enjoy the product and selection at Slater. Prices are on high side compared to caregivers but one stop shopping for decent selection, tested products, and lab results on potency, etc...some patients need this or can't find it else where.

Also, they did call me and I did receive letter also.

I am not sure I will keep one of my two CG slots open for them though for occasional purchases, but for now they are filling a gap and providing medication to those who cannot find it elsewhere or grow for themselves. I wish they were open when I first got my card because those first few months can be tough finding meds, etc.

Good luck and enjoy......

Im getting pretty annoyed.. Every time I go on Slater's web site their strain menu gets smaller and smaller! I finally got my card last week and singed up with them and since Tuesday they have dropped 5 bud strains and like 3 different concentrate oils! I just went on there and there is only 8 bud strains now and 3 concentrates... WTF! I was hoping to get my go ahead acceptance sometime next week and at the rate it's going there won't be anything left. UGh..:cuss:

do not go by there website.supposedly they advertise they keep there site "live updated" but its not true.there website is not kept updated real time and its a mess.for days they had grape god listed under concentrates.i told them when i went in there and no change.everytime i go there there are strains there not on the website and things on the website not there.very frustrating since i was trying to go by there website so i dont have to stop in every other day to see if im missing something.just a few days ago they had maybe 5 different kinds of kief that are not on the website.they were low on flower last time i was there but still had strains like cataract kush thats still not on there website.they seem money hungry so from a business standpoint im really suprised they slack on there website

That's not good business.. They changed it again today and have been more active lately. That's nuts to not list all your products if you have them in stock. I was going completely by what their web site says they have in deciding which products i would want to purchase as soon I get the go ahead from them after singing up with them last week. I thought it looked like they had more products then there was listed on the site while in was in there on Tuesday. I wanted to get small amounts of several different buds, hash and concentrate oils on my first visit to see what works the best for me.

Lol now they updated the site to only 6 strains of buds and 1 hash and 1 oil.. Are there that many rope registered there all of a sudden? WTF I register with them and before I can get in the place gets cleared out. I'm having issues finding another med I'm on too. Blah!

Your best bet is to find a caregiver. I don't see the situation getting better until they start producing their own which is at least a few months away. Or they could pay a fair wholesale market price and still have a 100% mark up and their situation will get better. We'll see what happens when the other center opens.

I thought the turnaround after signing them up as your caregiver was shortened to a few days from what I was told by others on here... I signed up last Tuesday morning and paid $25 in cash. Called today and not in the system yet! I think my one plant will mature and flower before I actually get in this place.

patience grasshopper...its only been 5 business days.it was a month for me and 3 days for my buddy.who knows with the DOH.

your not missing a whole hell of a lot right now.but im sure in a few months when they harvest there own plants and open the kitchen for edibles and such that they will have a wide selection of meds by then and prices come down a little....hopefully...

I've been waiting for months now.. I don't have any other way to get these meds anymore. Last month I started lowering my pain medication dose because I thought I would have access to a compassion center by now and I'm stuck with a lot of pain. When your in pain you tend to get easily agitated and I feel like there is always another hoop to jump through or fee to pay. Then more waiting! It's really frustrating to me because I did everything correctly and as fast as possible and I don't like to have to wait and suffer while I hear about and see all these other people who can go buy at slater.
