First use of molasses... confused!?

So I got some molasses for my 2 girls, about 5 weeks into flowering. I mixed up a batch of my Fox Farms nutes, added molasses (1.5 Tbsp per gallon) and watered away. Seeing that I only have 2 girls I didn't use the whole gallon. I came back the next day when the lights came on and there were frothy bubbles in the jug... I picked it up and shook it a bit and it was carbonated. Is this a problem? is this normal?

you guys are going crazy on that molasses. Im feeding mine 3/4 t spoon per gallon And im pretty sre im giving mine way too much. For a finisher I use gravity flowe hardener 3 weeks from harvest applied once and3 waterings of molasses. On the back lable of the gravity it suggests 2 heaping table spoons molasses per 25 gallns of water. I fed them last week and i hve abut 9 daystill harvest and those buds are gaining some serious weight. Gravity is a geat product. Im thinking about using purple maxx on my next crop along with the gravity.

lol I use five tablespoons per 2 gallons, i boil it down in like a quart then disolve that quart into 7 others. It works great... I love it... Molasses has a very low nutrient value, i wanna say 0-0-5 or 0-5-0 i am high and confused... But its best value is that it loads carbs, and acts as a chelting agent to remove hard metals and impurities... I have been using that ratio since the start of flowering and i have no burn to speak of, along with a low dose of bloom terra i have been fine.

I hope all works for you... as far as the carbonation, i boil it out and usually there are some little yeast floaters, but its in an open air container, so its not carbonated with bubbles like you describe,.. i will look out for that...

Best of luck, keep us posted...

so today I went back in and the gallon jug just about exploded from air pressure. There was all sorts of floating shit in there too. When I opened it up it smelled HORRIBLE.

sugar and water is a perfect environment for bacteria
the air pressure was caused by the carbon dioxide produced from the bacteria :-?:?

idk, but i am gonna continue leaving the top off... doesnt make sense to build pressure and gross stuff, yeah co2 is good, but not through watering the roots with bacteria water... but let us know if it is just as efficient... I dont see why it would be bad, its not bad bacteria, just seems unnecessary...

I had 2 jugs,

1 with water and molasses
1 with water nutes and molassis

The jug without nutes did nothing, the jug with nutes is what I posted this thread about. With my most recent watering I just made up a half gallon and used that, no excess water to turn into sewer scum.
